On November 17, 2023, the Guangzhou Auto Show opened. At this year’s auto show, BYD Song L launched a brand new “Ji Yun Qing” color scheme, giving the whole car a more stylish and attractive look. Currently, the new car has started pre-sale, with a pre-sale price range of 220,000 to 280,000 yuan (39190$). It is reported that the new car will be officially launched within the year.
The BYD Song L is a new model in the BYD Dynasty series Song family, positioned as a B-level pioneer hunting SUV. The new car is built on the BYD e-platform 3.0, equipped with CTB battery body integration technology, intelligent electric four-wheel drive, DiPilot intelligent driving assistance, and Cloud Chariot C system technology.
In terms of appearance, BYD has named the exterior design of the Song L as “Pioneer Dragon Face”. The family DNA-style design has evolved to be more aggressive, with a significantly more sporty overall look that gives it a sense of “running” not often seen in previous BYD models.
In the front part, the Vanguard Dragon Face design has been optimized on the basis of the traditional dragon face design, and the multi-layered X-shaped front face is full of sharpness. The chrome-plated strip, like a “dragon’s beard,” is directly connected to the grille from both sides of the headlight, creating a visual effect with classical Chinese style. The trapezoidal intake decoration below enhances the sporty atmosphere of the front face, and the triangular intake decoration on both sides of the bumper adds two chrome-plated wind knife decorations, further focusing the center of the front face of the entire vehicle towards the LOGO, very domineering.
The Song L is equipped with frameless doors and the door handles are hidden. The side of the car features multiple strong and powerful “swimming dragon” lines, with flat window styling and a small ground clearance, giving the car a rare low-profile visual effect for a mid-size SUV. In terms of size, the Song L has overall dimensions of 4840/1950/1560mm and a wheelbase of 2930mm.
The rear styling is very aggressive, with a lot of three-dimensional surfaces. The top wing and the adaptive wing at the end bring a strong sense of “running”. The triangular air guide decoration and the bottom diffuser decoration continue to enhance the sporty atmosphere of the rear of the car. The new taillights adopt the family’s “flowing light” design, and the recognition is also very high after lighting up.
In terms of interior, the entire central control area of the BYD Song L features a symmetrical double-layer suspended T-shaped design, with embedded vertical layout air vents, and a full-color dynamic ambient light strip that runs across the entire central console. The adaptive floating PAD continues to be the visual focus of the entire central console, and the new generation BYD Heart electronic gear shift lever also uses crystal cutting technology. In terms of materials, soft plastic and decorative strips, as well as soft leather wrapping, cover the entire central console, with excellent texture.
In terms of intelligent configuration, the new car is equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel screen, a 50-inch proportional projection area AR-HUD head-up display, and a 15.6-inch high screen-to-body ratio adaptive floating PAD. The cockpit is equipped with a high-performance customized DiLink intelligent networking system, based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and jointly customized with Qualcomm to support 5G in-vehicle cockpit platform, the system supports more advanced continuous voice recognition, OTA online upgrades and other advanced functions. In terms of driving assistance, the new car is equipped with the BYD DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system, which has more than 30 auxiliary functions, such as high-speed assistance, intelligent navigation, automatic parking, and fatigue monitoring reminders.
In terms of power, the new car offers a single motor and dual motor versions to choose from, with the four-wheel drive version equipped with front and rear motors, with maximum power of 150/230kW respectively; the single motor version has a maximum power of 230kW. In terms of range, the CLTC condition pure electric range is 550km, 602km, 662km. In terms of chassis, the new car features front MacPherson independent suspension + rear multi-link independent suspension system, and is equipped with the Yunnei-C intelligent damping body control system, with millisecond-level damping adjustment speed.
