On November 21st, Changan Automobile and NIO reached a cooperation agreement on battery swapping business. Both parties will cooperate in four areas: establishing battery swapping standards, building a swapping system, establishing a battery asset management mechanism, and pre-researching swapping products.
The Chairman and Party Secretary of Changan Automobile, Zhu Huarong, held talks and witnessed the signing with the founder, Chairman, and CEO of NIO, Li Bin. Wang Jun, President of Changan Automobile, Wang Hui, Vice President of Changan Automobile, Deng Chenghao, General Manager of Deep Blue Automobile, Qin Lihong, Co-founder and President of NIO, and Shen Fei, Senior Vice President of NIO, attended the event. According to official introduction, the construction of the energy supplement system is the core work to promote the development of the intelligent electric vehicle industry.
William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, said: “After 5 years of development, NIO’s battery swapping network and NIO Energy Cloud have accumulated rich experience in research and development, construction, and operation. NIO’s battery swapping business is ready to open up to the industry. Through this cooperation, NIO and Changan Automobile will jointly promote the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry and drive the low-carbon transformation of the automotive industry.” At the same time, Li Bin revealed in an internal speech on November 20th that there are still 4-5 companies in negotiations. The battery swapping system is about to become an ecological service, and NIO may become the industry standard setter for battery swapping.
