Subaru has announced a recall of certain imported CROSSTREK, Outback, and Forester series vehicles produced between September 6, 2023 and September 8, 2023. A total of 24 vehicles are affected by the recall due to improper heat treatment of the front drive shaft universal joint outer seat ring, which may lead to cracking and reduced material strength. This could result in damage to the outer seat ring, poor power transmission, and decreased driving force, increasing the risk of collision. Subaru will inspect and replace the front drive shaft for free to eliminate the safety hazard.
From January 11, 2024, Subaru will recall a total of 2472 imported Outback vehicles produced between February 10, 2021 and June 30, 2021. The vehicles may have insufficient sealing of the gear position inhibitor switch, allowing moisture to enter the switch and causing poor contact. This could result in engine start-up issues, engine warning lights, and malfunctioning reverse lights and camera, increasing the risk of collision. Subaru will replace the gear position inhibitor switch free of charge to eliminate the safety hazard.
