Apple’s New CarPlay Version Facing Landing Problems

Nov 29, 2023

On November 29th that at last year’s WWDC in June, Apple announced a new version of CarPlay, claiming to “make CarPlay no longer just a simple projection of the iOS system, but to make iOS fill the entire car screen.” Apple announced at the time that more details would be announced “by the end of this year,” but it now appears that Apple’s new version of CarPlay is encountering problems in landing. The Apple website still states that the first batch of vehicles supporting the next generation CarPlay experience will be announced “by the end of 2023,” but it is now almost December, and Apple is likely to quietly update or remove related pages in the near future. MacRumors has already contacted Apple about this, but has not received a response.

According to IT Home, Apple announced at last year’s WWDC that the new version of Carplay supports companies such as Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, and Volvo, and can integrate various performance data of the car, including speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, etc., thereby fully “taking over” the original car system, which also makes car manufacturers unwilling to “give in”.
