Isuzu's 40 Billion Yen Investment in Electrification Research & Development Center

In order to help achieve a carbon-neutral society, Isuzu Group is committed to promoting and deploying electrified products in all commercial vehicle areas by 2030. To accelerate the development of electric vehicles optimized for commercial use, Isuzu believes that independent evaluation and development of systems and components are crucial. In addition, Isuzu has invested in establishing a new facility for the development of electronic components at the Tsuchizawa factory. The newly established Electric Vehicle Development and Testing Center will utilize testing and evaluation equipment for batteries, motors, electric vehicle systems, and thermal management. By gaining a deep understanding of the characteristics of batteries, the company seeks to maximize battery management performance.

Through testing fuel cell electric vehicle systems at this center, Isuzu will conduct advanced energy management and thermal management optimization at the system level, which will help improve driving range and performance. By integrating these functions into the facility, Isuzu will accelerate the development of electric vehicles. Earlier in May of this year, Isuzu Group announced a 1 trillion yen innovation investment to advance the carbon-neutral and logistics digitalization transformation initiative. The establishment of the new Electric Vehicle Development and Testing Center is also positioned as part of this initiative. Isuzu Group stated that it will continue to strengthen its development framework for vehicles that meet carbon-neutral standards and promote their widespread adoption and improvement.
