On December 6th, Wuling’s first sedan model, Wuling Xingguang, was officially launched. The Xingguang includes pure electric and hybrid power forms. The hybrid models launched this time are divided into 70 standard version and 150 advanced version, with a price range of 8.88-10.58 million yuan.
In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the all-new “Star Wing Aesthetics” design language, which is more youthful overall. The plug-in hybrid version features a dot matrix front face with a lower mesh grille, along with a through-type light strip and LED headlight group, with rich elements. The pure electric version uses a fully enclosed grille design, which is more in line with the design style of electric vehicles.
The new car comes with automatic headlights, which are rare in the same price range. The full LED lens light source combined with high beam assist and steering assist function, illuminates a width of 6 lanes, a distance greater than 170m, and increases the brightness and distance by 25%; the cornering light automatically turns on, expanding the illumination width close to 2 times the original.
The sloping design is paired with semi-hidden door handles and 18-inch five-spoke wheels, giving the car a sportier look. The new car measures 4835/1860/1515mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2800mm, firmly placing it in the mid-size car category.
The rear of the car highlights the design sense of Wuling Rongguang. The “star ring taillights” echo the front of the car, and the black lower bumper is embellished with chrome trim, which is much simpler than the front of the car.
In terms of interior, the new car offers two interior options: mysterious black and deep color, and flowing sand color. Although equipped with a combination of a 15.6-inch smart central control screen + 8.8-inch LED instrument screen, the central control panel still retains some physical buttons, improving the convenience of some functions.
The Wuling Starlight is equipped with “hug and comfort” ergonomic seats, and the driver’s seat comes with 6-way power adjustment as standard. In addition, it also features a unique “reclining chair” design: the front seats can be reclined 180° backwards, allowing them to be level with the rear seat cushion, creating a recliner-like effect.
Wuling Sunshine also performs well in intelligentization. Ling OS operating system is built in with social entertainment programs such as iQiyi and QQ Music. Remote vehicle control, keyless entry and one-button start, as well as the previously mentioned automatic headlights, are all functions that greatly enhance the driving experience. In terms of power, the new car will offer two power forms: plug-in hybrid and pure electric. The plug-in hybrid model launched this time is equipped with the Wuling Lingxi hybrid system, which is powered by a 1.5L engine with a maximum power of 78kW and an electric motor group, and is equipped with an electromagnetic DHT hybrid power special gearbox.
The two models have a pure electric range of 70km and 150km respectively. The WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption is 3.98L/100km, the NEDC comprehensive fuel consumption is 3.7L/100km, and the comprehensive range reaches 1100km. In addition, the new car also supports two charging methods: direct current fast charging and alternating current slow charging. In terms of safety, Wuling Xingguang has a high proportion of high-strength steel, reaching 76.4%, covering the A/B/C pillars and two side door frames, and using over 1500 megapascals of hot-formed steel in key protection areas. Wuling Xingguang’s chassis adopts a three-horizontal and three-vertical hot-formed ultra-high-strength steel structure design, effectively improving the deformation resistance of the battery and passenger cabin. In addition, the new car also has a designed energy absorption zone for side impact on the battery.
