The Tengshi N8, Tang DM-p, and Hujian 07 are the three brothers of BYD, with similar size, power, energy consumption, and seat layout. So, if they compete with each other, how should we choose? Today, the author will analyze it with everyone.
First is the escort 07, which has the lowest price among the 3 models and only seats 5. If you don’t usually need to seat 6 or 7 people, the escort 07 is the best choice. It’s a small expense for a big impact among the 3 models.
It should be noted that the playability of the frigate 07 is not high. Although it is four-wheel drive, it does not have a rear differential lock, and its off-road ability is not as good as the Tengshi N8 and Tang DM-p. Therefore, the frigate 07 will be limited in travel scenarios, and it is more suitable for people whose most driving scenarios are in urban and suburban areas. As for complex road conditions, the Tang DM-p and Tengshi N8 will be more suitable.
Next up are the Tang DM-p and the Tengshi N8. Many people believe that the Tang DM-p has better looks, after all, the “Dragon Face” design language is considered classic. The author agrees with this view, although the Tengshi N8 and Tang DM-p only have differences in the front and rear of the car, but they always give the impression of being “non-mainstream”.
As for the interior, the advantage of Tang DM-p is no longer obvious. Compared to it, the N8, which focuses on the luxury car market, has more advantages. First of all, the N8’s color matching is elegant, with various silver trim and crystal-like decorations, and the roof is also made of suede leather, which is a luxury car exclusive. Secondly, the N8’s center console is not decorated with a large number of piano lacquer panels like the Tang DM-p, so the texture and touch will be better.
On the hardware side, the low-end model of Tang DM-p is equipped with FSD adjustable damping suspension system, while only the high-end model is equipped with the Yunche-C system. The Tengshi N8 is equipped with the Yunche-C intelligent electronic control damping active suspension system across the board. The higher price of Tengshi N8 compared to Tang DM-p is not without reason.
The author has experienced the Tang DM-p and Tengshi N8 in depth. The Yunche C seems to be an upgrade of the FSD variable damping suspension, handling vibrations and suppressing the vehicle’s pitching and nodding during acceleration and braking more smoothly. In short, the Tengshi N8 should be more comfortable than the entry-level model of the Tang DM-p. Of course, if your budget allows, you can also go directly for the Tang DM-p with the Yunche-C system.
As for other aspects, both Tang DM-p and Tengshi N8 are four-wheel drive and have rear differential lock, so they can go to more places. At the same time, facing large potholes and getting stuck, the ability to escape is naturally stronger than the Huarui 07. Compared to Tang DM-p and Tengshi N8, their abilities are not much different, and they are at a similar level.
The Tengshi N8 does not have a big advantage in power system and chassis suspension hardware compared to the Tang DM-p. Its winning edge lies mainly in the luxurious interior and more delicate workmanship, as well as the high-end brand image of Tengshi.
From a practical and cost-effective perspective, they are not the reasons why the author recommends buying the Tang N8, because in BYD’s product line, the Tang DM-p is also a flagship SUV with a luxurious tone. The relationship with the N8 is not significant. After understanding this issue, is the Tang DM-p more attractive than the N8? So, my recommendation for these three cars is in the following order: Tang DM-p > N8 > Guard 07.
