On December 14th, the all-new long-wheelbase E-Class from Mercedes-Benz was officially launched, with six models priced between 44.90 and 55.98 million yuan.
Since 1947, the Mercedes E-Class has evolved into 11 generations of vehicles.
In terms of appearance, the all-new E-Class adopts the front-end design of the overseas version and retains two options: classic sedan and sport sedan.
The new car features a “sparkling star ring” grille with fiber optic lighting. The grille has added black high-gloss trim between the headlights, complementing the design elements of the Mercedes EQ electric vehicle grille. The “sparkling starry sky” digital headlights pay homage to the classic “four-eye round light” design with 4 LED arcs, and project a new “sparkling star river” or “meteor shower” welcome animation through digital micro-mirror projection technology.
On the side of the car, the all-new Mercedes E-Class inherits the elegant and sporty temperament, making some adjustments in the lines and details. The front and rear two-section characteristic lines outline the slender body profile, and the C-pillar triangular window consistent with the previous generation long-wheelbase E-Class, derived from the Maybach S-Class sedan, provides a broader view while also taking care of the privacy of rear passengers.
Hidden door handles and smoother transitions from the C-pillar to the trunk create a more streamlined look for the entire vehicle, while also achieving a low drag coefficient of 0.23Cd, reducing wind noise and improving fuel economy.
In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 5092/1880/1493mm in length/width/height, with a wheelbase of 3094mm. Compared to the previous generation of long wheelbase E-Class cars, the 11th generation model has increased its wheelbase by 15mm and its body length by 14mm. At the rear of the car, the all-new two-section “star emblem taillights” seamlessly integrate with the four deep three-pointed star emblems, making it highly recognizable. Compared to the previous generation model, a chrome decorative strip and panel have been added between the left and right taillights, extending the visual width of the rear of the car. In addition, “wind knife” decorations have been added to the sides of the bumper, and the chrome decorative strip under the bumper has been slightly reduced compared to the previous generation model, giving a more sporty visual impression.
In terms of interior, the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class adopts a “2+1” screen layout similar to the EQS. An independent instrument screen is used to display driving information, and the 14.4-inch central display screen and 12.3-inch passenger display screen are integrated into one, covered by a single piece of glass. Its edge contour matches the height of the dashboard, full of technological sense. At the same time, the new car is also equipped with the third-generation MBUX intelligent human-machine interaction system, using the 8295 smart cockpit chip.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the first model equipped with the third-generation MBUX intelligent human-machine interaction system. Its zero-level menu displays air conditioning, media, Bluetooth, and navigation on the desktop for easy user operation. At the same time, the voice interaction function in the all-new E-Class has also been upgraded to the “mind-reading voice assistant,” supporting millisecond response and full-scene wake-up-free, accurate recognition, and rapid response. Voice control can recognize deep-level operations in the second-level menu, such as “open vehicle settings” and “close head-up display,” all of which can be operated by voice.
In terms of luxury features, the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is still equipped with the Burmester sound system, now upgraded to a total power of 730W with 21 high-performance speakers, and 2 oscillators for each front seat, creating a 4D surround sound. In addition, it is also the first to feature the “dynamic mood with music” function, where the 64-color active ambient lighting can dynamically change with the music, visualizing the audio content for both music and video playback.
In addition, the comfort of the rear seats has been greatly improved compared to the previous generation, with the most obvious feeling being the longer seat cushion and the reclining backrest angle. The domestic version also has over 10 exclusive rear luxury comfort upgrades, including rear electrically adjustable seats that can recline up to 36 degrees, extended rear seat cushions, electrically adjustable rear seat leg rests, rear headrests with neck heating function, continuous surround ambient lighting for the rear seats, and rear wireless charging, etc.
In terms of power, the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is equipped with the M254 turbocharged four-cylinder engine + ISG 48V electric motor light hybrid power system, paired with Mercedes’ own 9AT transmission. The E300L is equipped with a 2.0T high-power engine, with a maximum power of 190kW, maximum torque of 400Nm, 0-100km/h acceleration in just 6.6s, 0.3s faster than the previous generation, and a combined fuel consumption of 6.65L per 100km. The E260L is equipped with a 2.0T low-power engine, with a maximum power of 150kW, maximum torque of 320Nm, 7.7s acceleration per 100km, and a combined fuel consumption of 6.15L per 100km.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has L2+ level navigation assisted driving in terms of intelligent driving, covering both highways and city expressways, with the ability to achieve point-to-point navigation assisted driving on highways, and features such as automatic lane changing and automatic distance keeping from large vehicles. In addition, automatic entry and exit ramp driving will be launched in 2024.
The all-new long-wheelbase E-Class has evolved significantly in luxury, comfort, and intelligence. Its outstanding driving performance and luxurious exclusive rear seats make it the executive car that meets the needs of the luxury market in China.
