On December 17th that spy photos and patent images of the BYD pickup truck have been gradually released. The interior patent image of the vehicle has also been revealed, showcasing the overall cabin layout.
From a design perspective, combining the previous exterior patent drawings, it can be seen that the interior of the new car continues the rugged style of the exterior, with a large number of straight lines used in the center console, and a very clear sense of hierarchy. The front passenger side of the car is equipped with a recessed storage compartment, and behind the center screen is a component that is H-shaped and raised. It is expected that the new car’s main selling point will be its abundant storage space. In addition, the new car also has a large HUD head-up display area in front of the driver, and a large floating center screen in the middle. Compared to the Jaguar E-PACE 5, the two cars have similar steering wheel shapes and share some of the design elements.
The car’s exterior design is led by BYD’s chief scientist Lian Yubo, global design director Wolfgang Egger, Yin Yadong, Huang Zuzheng, Huang Jiangrong, Yan Xiaoyu, and others. According to BYD’s previous plan, the pickup was originally scheduled to be launched later this year, but now it seems that it may be delayed until next year. According to previous reports, the new BYD pickup may offer two powertrain versions: plug-in hybrid and pure electric.
