On December 20, 2023, the Star Era ES was officially launched, the first mass-produced model in the new pure electric product series under the Chery Automobile Xingtu brand. The new car is positioned as a mid-to-large-sized sedan, adopting the “aesthetic of the wind” design concept, equipped with the high-pass Snapdragon 8155 smart cockpit, and the NEP intelligent navigation system. In terms of power, based on the E0X technology platform, it is equipped with a mass-produced 400V/800V high-voltage platform, with a pure electric range of up to 905km, and standard air suspension + CDC electromagnetic damping shock absorption system. The new car offers 5 models, with a price range of 225,800-339,800 yuan (47620$), and at the same time introduces the right to purchase a car, specific details can be seen in the figure below.
In terms of appearance, the first sedan model of the Stellantis brand, the Stellantis Stellantis ES, has the typical design features of the Stellantis family, but adopts the “aesthetic of the wind” design concept, making the overall shape more avant-garde and dynamic.
The new car features an X-shaped front face design with a large, enclosed grille and a LED light strip at the top. The headlights have a split design with a large triangular shape and a horizontal trapezoidal air intake at the bottom. The car also has IGS active grille. The front lip and bumper are decorated with shiny black trim, creating a more sporty and low-profile visual effect. In terms of headlights, the new car is equipped with horizontal LED light strips, combined with sharp front light groups on both sides, giving a strong sense of technology. The car is equipped with LED integrated headlights with welcome function, and some models can be equipped with ground lights and grid panels. The unique wind language interactive lights further enhance the sense of technology and also support AHB automatic control of high and low beams.
The new car has a sleek side profile, with a charging indicator light at the D-pillar to enhance its technological appeal. The sloping roof, large five-spoke wheels, and high-performance brake system with large brake discs all contribute to a strong sense of sportiness. The hidden door handles and the changes in the side profile reduce the vehicle’s drag coefficient to just 0.205Cd. The car measures 4945/1978/1489mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3000mm. The available body colors are sky blue, wilderness green, midnight black, azure gray, and cloud white.
The rear of the car features straight lines with many horizontal lines. The rear bumper protrudes and corresponds to the style of the front of the car. It has a 0~15 degree adjustable 2nd gear, which can be adjusted through the screen, voice, or mobile APP, or automatically raised and lowered with speed. This electric tail wing not only enhances the visual effect of the rear of the car, but also further improves its aerodynamics and handling performance. In terms of the lighting, the slender and long-shaped LED tail lights are located at the top of the rear, and the crystal array of lights has strong recognition and a strong sense of movement when illuminated.
The new car features a well-organized T-shaped layered floating IP platform, paired with a sleek double-spoke multifunction steering wheel. It also includes a 15.6-inch floating large LCD screen, an 8.2-inch embedded instrument panel, and HUD head-up display, creating a strong sense of technology. In terms of cabin materials, the entire vehicle uses infant-level environmentally friendly materials, with a large amount of leather and soft plastic wrapping, complemented by bright metal and wood trim. It supports three interior theme colors: celadon, ink black, and jade white, creating a pleasant home atmosphere. It is worth mentioning that the new car is also equipped with a crystal-like ambient light system, enhancing the sense of luxury.
The floating central control screen has a resolution of 2.5K and features a new scene-based interface design. It is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 smart cockpit platform and the all-scenario, self-learning, and evolvable Lion AI large model voice assistant MateGPT. It supports intelligent voice interaction in four sound zones, visible speech, in-cabin online entertainment, smart navigation, remote control via mobile app, multi-scene mode, OTA upgrades, and other functions.
In terms of configuration, the 50W wireless charging for mobile phones, 540° panoramic imaging, intelligent fragrance system, cloud leather seats, front seat electric adjustment/heating/ventilation, rear seat heating, heated steering wheel, front double-layer soundproof glass, dual-zone intelligent air conditioning, driver’s private headrest sound system, face recognition, 1080P dashcam, and a series of comfortable configurations such as UWB smart key, mobile phone Bluetooth key, and NFC card key are all standard equipment for the entire series.
The new car is equipped with the Lion Melody sound system, which has up to 23 speakers and a peak power of 1000W. It also supports panoramic sound effects. The headrest speakers in the main driver’s seat can be used in three different application scenarios: full car mode, driver mode, and private mode. The system can also be upgraded via OTA.
In the intelligent driving part, it has an electronic electrical architecture EEA 5.0, equipped with NEP lane keeping cruise, full-speed adaptive cruise, intelligent cruise assist, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping, blind spot monitoring and other L2 level driving assistance systems. The high-end models support NEP high-speed leading, lever control lane change, automatic parking, remote parking, memory parking and other advanced intelligent driving functions. Some models are equipped with laser radar, city navigation driving assistance, support NEP full scene leading, and equipped with W-HUD head-up display function.
In terms of space, the official stated that thanks to the all-new pure electric architecture platform, the net space “room rate” inside the Star Era ES is 70.2%. The front seats are of integral design, with suspended headrests and shoulder support. The rear seats maintain the same design as the front seats, with moderate softness and hardness of the seat cushion filler.
In terms of power, the Star Era ES is built on an 800V high-voltage electrical platform and offers high/low power single motor or dual motor options. The low-power version has a maximum power of 185kW and peak torque of 356N·m, while the high-power version has a maximum power of 230kW and peak torque of 425N·m. The dual motor has a maximum power of 353kW, peak torque of 663N·m, a range of 650km, and 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.7 seconds.
The pole is electronically controlled, and the new car is equipped with four different capacity power batteries of 66.4/60.5/79.9/97.7 kWh for the endurance part. According to the different motor and battery capacities, there are five optional comprehensive endurance ranges of 605/570/720/650/905 kilometers. It also supports different voltage platforms of 400V or 800V, and the fastest charging time from 30% to 80% of the battery takes 15 minutes, with the lowest energy consumption of 11.7 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The new car is built on the E0X high-performance platform, using a large proportion of lightweight aluminum materials for the lightweight steel-aluminum body and all-aluminum chassis. For the chassis, the new car is equipped with front double wishbone independent suspension + rear five-link independent suspension system, standard intelligent cloud platform air suspension + CDC electromagnetic damping shock absorption system, with a minimum turning diameter of only 11.4 meters.
