Apple’s New CarPlay: Exclusive Designs with Porsche and Aston Martin

Dec 21, 2023

Apple announced a new version of CarPlay at last year’s WWDC, promising to release more information by the end of this year. The latest development is that Apple is partnering with car manufacturers to bring “unique” design styles to the CarPlay interface – different car companies are expected to have personalized CarPlay “theme interfaces.”

Now, the first batch of car manufacturers with the new version of CarPlay has been announced – Porsche and Aston Martin. At the same time, these two brands will also be the first to experience exclusive personalized designs. For example, Porsche models that support the new version of CarPlay use a “three-barrel” dashboard interface, with a background image that simulates Porsche’s unique “Pepita” texture. The CarPlay design of Aston Martin models is slightly different, outlined with the brand’s exclusive green color.

According to IT Home’s previous report, Apple officials have said that the new version of CarPlay is no longer a simple projection of the iOS system, but is intended to “fill the entire car screen with iOS.” As announced by Apple at last year’s WWDC, the new version of CarPlay supports companies such as Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche, Volvo, and can integrate various performance data of the car, including speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, etc., thus completely “taking over” the original car system, which also makes car manufacturers unwilling to “give in.”
