The recent release of the 1000-horsepower Zeekr 001 has attracted a lot of attention and made the brand even more youthful and fashionable. The model we are test-driving today is the newly unveiled Zeekr 007 at the Guangzhou Auto Show, a B-class intelligent sedan that emphasizes luxury and technological sophistication.
In terms of appearance, the Extreme Krypton 007 does not use a family-style appearance design, but instead uses a new design concept for the pure electric era, and hides many luxury elements. The new car will use a clamshell hood design, and the highly integrated design also adds to the luxurious beauty of the front end.
The lighting group is the most recognizable part of the extremely Krypton 007. The new car will use the world’s first hidden-through front face, breaking the traditional car layout and integrating all the headlights into a horizontal band of lights. This includes the industry’s first ZEEKR STARGATE integrated light curtain, which can display dynamic images and sound effects, as well as custom light language according to user needs, with high playability and recognition.
Currently, the car offers various preset light language effects, including greetings, blinking, and hearts. At the same time, the car also has an external shouting function, with several presets in the car system, such as “beer, drinks, mineral water, peanuts, sunflower seeds, instant noodles.” It’s highly playable, with different sound effects, and of course, we can also record our own voices, which is quite interesting when waiting for someone.
The car’s side profile features a sleek design, adding style and maximizing interior space. The car measures 4865x1900x1450mm, with a wheelbase of 2928mm, positioning it as a B-class pure electric intelligent sedan.
The Geely Coolray 007 features frameless doors on all four doors, and does not have exterior door handles. To open the door, simply press the button on the B or C pillar, and the corresponding door will open automatically. To close, you can use the button or gently push the door, and it will close automatically with electric suction function, showcasing technology and luxury.
In terms of the hub, the new car will use a 20-inch double five-spoke petal design, which looks well-proportioned and embodies the sporty attributes while also showing the aura of a luxury car. Michelin’s 255/40 R20 tires also ensure the comfort of the vehicle during driving.
The new car’s rearview mirror may seem ordinary, but upon closer observation, it can be seen that the rearview mirror of the Extreme Krypton 007 adopts an integrated design, where the mirror and the housing are connected together. When we want to adjust the angle of the rearview mirror, the entire rearview mirror will be adjusted together, which is practical and luxurious enough.
The rear end design also uses a new style, compared to the previous model’s iconic taillights, the taillights of the Extreme 007 also perfectly interpret luxury and sportiness. The entire taillight assembly is a bright black decorative strip when not lit, and the thin and faint light strip is very recognizable when lit. The turn signal is designed in the taillight assembly, while the brake light, reverse light, and rear fog light are all designed above the rear bumper.
In terms of interior, the Extreme Krypton 007 also shows luxury and a sense of technology everywhere. The new car uses a “simple but extraordinary” design style, with almost no physical buttons in the entire interior. The materials used are also low-carbon and environmentally friendly renewable materials, and achieve a skin-friendly texture without any odor.
The car features a blue and white interior color scheme, including the steering wheel. The two-spoke steering wheel has a great feel and creatively incorporates five commonly used function buttons in the middle. The multi-function button area uses a combination of levers and touch buttons, allowing for customizable functions. The steering wheel and rearview mirror can also be adjusted using these buttons.
The design of the LCD dashboard is very simple. It displays vehicle speed, gear position, and remaining range on the left side. The middle section shows information about the vehicle’s intelligent driving system. On the right side, there is entertainment display and vehicle information. The overall clarity is also very good.
The new car is equipped with a 15.05-inch 2.5K OLED sunflower central control screen, adopting a design with ultra-narrow bezels. The car’s system uses the 8295 chip, which will make the overall processing speed faster and support more functions. In terms of picture quality, the screen also increases the color display to 10.7 billion colors, making the colors more delicate and saturated.
The entire car infotainment system should operate more smoothly and support left and right screen rotation. Simply use four fingers to swipe on the screen to rotate it to one side. Quick adjustment switches for rearview mirror, HUD, seat massage, and other functions are designed in the sidebar of the main interface, making them very convenient to use.
At the bottom of the screen are the commonly used functions. The overall UI design and de-layering here are also in place, with no extra actions. This includes basic vehicle control, lighting control, driving mode, sound, and display information.
In addition, the driving mode, kinetic energy recovery, steering, suspension, NZP high-speed navigation, vehicle intelligent driving assistance and other functions can also be adjusted through the screen, and can be customized according to the different needs of each driver, the flexibility is very high.
The air conditioning system and seats can be adjusted through the screen. The car also features hidden air vents, with the direction and speed of the airflow controlled through the screen. The electric seat adjustment and other functions can be selected on the screen. It may take some time to get used to using it for the first time.
Below the screen are two wireless charging panels, and the central channel’s cup holder also has a sliding cover, giving a strong overall impression. Due to the minimalist style, the Zeekr 007 also uses a hidden storage design, saving space and enhancing the luxurious atmosphere in the car, making it more convenient to use.
The front seats of the Geely Coolray 007 are covered in Nappa full-grain leather, providing high overall comfort and a luxurious feel. The front seats support electric adjustment, as well as heating, ventilation, massage, memory, and easy entry functions. The driver’s seat also has a Speaker headrest audio system, reflecting luxury in every detail.
The rear seats are very comfortable, especially with the electric adjustable backrest to meet the needs of every passenger. The floor of the car is almost flat due to its pure electric model, with only a slight bump in the middle, but it does not affect the overall comfort of the ride. The four doors do not have external door handles, and the interior opening is done with electric buttons. To open the doors, just press the button and the doors will open automatically. For safety, sensors are installed on the doors to stop the opening action if there is an obstacle or if someone tries to block it with their hand, thus avoiding any danger.
The Geely Coolray 007 not only has a regular trunk for storage, but also a front trunk designed under the hood. Although not very large, it is completely adequate for small items. However, this storage box does not have a separate cover, which would make it neater if it did.
In terms of power, the model we test drove today is the four-wheel drive intelligent driving version, which will be equipped with front and rear dual motors. The front motor has a maximum power of 165kW, the rear motor is 310kW, the comprehensive power is 475kW, and the maximum torque is 710N·m, with a zero to one hundred acceleration time of 3.8s. In addition, the Extreme Krypton 007 will also offer a rear-wheel drive version, which will be equipped with a rear motor with a super high power 800V silicon carbide high-performance motor, with a zero to one hundred acceleration time of 5.4s.
The acceleration performance of the four-wheel drive model we test drove today can be said to be very excellent. Whether in economy mode, standard mode, or sport mode, its acceleration feeling is quite strong. Not only in the starting phase, even when cruising at 80km/h, if you want to suddenly accelerate to overtake, the extreme Krypton 007 is without any hesitation, a gentle press can erupt with continuous power.
And the braking effect also satisfies me, when we drive normally, we adjust the kinetic energy recovery to the strongest, if we predict the situation ahead, relying solely on kinetic energy recovery can completely reduce the speed to a safe speed. Even in the event of an emergency, the vehicle’s braking response is very fast, and the brakes are very linear, without any slack, the whole process is reassuring enough for you.
In terms of the chassis, the Extreme Krypton 007 will be equipped with front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension systems, and the four-wheel drive models will come standard with CCD electromagnetic shock absorption systems. This combination also reflects the driving and riding experience of luxury cars, filtering out road bumps and providing better support for the vehicle.
In terms of quietness, despite the use of a four-door frameless design, the Aston Martin 007 has no wind noise at the A-pillar and B-pillar positions when the speed exceeds 100km/h. In addition, the chassis noise reduction is also very well done, with road and tire noise being effectively isolated from the outside of the car, making the interior still comfortable and quiet.
In terms of handling, this car performs well. The steering wheel can be adjusted for damping, and there are noticeable changes in the three gears. The overall feel of the steering wheel is very good, and the directional accuracy is sufficient. This is especially clear when driving on mountain roads.
In terms of intelligent driving, the Extreme Krypton 007 is equipped with not only ACC adaptive cruise control, but also NZP high-speed navigation function. This function integrates ACC adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, automatic lane change assistance, and lever lane change functions. The vehicle can control the speed according to high-precision map navigation and actual road speed limits. At the same time, when encountering a sharp curve, the vehicle can automatically reduce speed to pass through.
In addition, when the vehicle detects a slow vehicle ahead, the system can quickly determine if it has the ability to change lanes and overtake. Once it meets the criteria, it will actively change lanes and overtake the vehicle. At the same time, we can also achieve automatic lane change by turning on the turn signal. These functions are very useful and practical when driving at high speeds.
In addition to the NZP function, the 35.5-inch AR-HUD is also very good to use. It can display the vehicle’s speed, speed limit, navigation, and set speed, with very high overall display clarity, which is very helpful for our daily driving.
