According to 36Kr, an internal email from NIO on the evening of January 5th revealed that the head of mobile, Yin Shuijun, will resign, and the mobile-related business will be taken over by NIO’s hardware head, Bai Jian.
Yin Shuijun joined NIO in 2022 and has been mainly responsible for the implementation of the mobile phone business. Before joining NIO, Yin Shuijun served as the president of Meitu Mobile. NIO Phone was launched in September with a starting price of 6499 yuan (920$).
NIO’s vice president, Bai Jian, announced on Weibo that he will take over the mobile phone business. He also expressed determination to do well in both the car and mobile phone industries. In the future, the combination of phones and cars will become closer, and the performance and iteration of the cockpit and entertainment media will become more mobile. NIO has self-developed ISP capabilities and may produce better chemical reactions. In addition, NIO’s CEO, Li Bin, revealed that NIO phones will continue to iterate, with the second generation NIO Phone already in development.
