The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has organized the preparation of the “Guidelines for the Construction of National Automobile Chip Standard System” based on the “National Standardization Development Outline” and the “Implementation Plan for the New Industry Standardization Leading Project”. The “Guidelines” mention the orderly promotion of chip standard development and implementation, accelerating the development and application of automobile chips, and supporting and ensuring the healthy and sustainable development of the automobile industry.
According to the “Guidelines,” by 2025, China will formulate more than 30 key standards for automotive chips, specifying basic requirements such as environmental and reliability, electromagnetic compatibility, functional safety, and information security, and formulating key product and application technical specifications for control, computing, storage, power, and communication chips, and forming matching test methods for whole vehicles and key systems to meet the basic needs of safe, reliable application and pilot demonstration of automotive chip products. By 2030, China will formulate more than 70 automotive chip-related standards, further improving the general requirements for basic, product and technology application, and matching tests, achieving effective support for forward-looking and integrated automotive chip technology and product R&D, and basically completing the full coverage of typical application scenarios and test methods for automotive chips, meeting the needs of building a safe, open, and sustainable automotive chip industry ecosystem.

▲ Automotive chip standard system architecture The “Guidelines” point out that the automotive chip standard system is based on the technical structure of automotive chips, adapts to the current situation and development trend of China’s automotive chip technology industry, and forms a technical logical structure of the automotive chip standard system with the application scenario demand of automotive chips as the starting point, based on the general requirements of automotive chips, the core of various application technical conditions of automotive chips, and the closed loop of automotive chip system and vehicle matching test. Starting from and focusing on “automotive chip application scenarios,” including powertrain systems, chassis systems, body systems, cabin systems, and intelligent driving systems, it extends upwards to form various technical specifications and test methods for automotive chips based on application scenario demand.
