On January 19, 2024, the second model of the Star Journey Star Era series, the Star Era ET, officially rolled off the production line at the Chery production base. The new car is built on the E0X platform and is positioned as a mid-to-large pure electric SUV. It is reported that the new car will be officially launched in the first quarter of this year and will become the flagship product alongside the Star Era ES after its launch.
In terms of appearance, the Star Era ET adopts the family’s “aesthetic of the wind” design concept. The front of the car adopts an X-shaped front face design, with a closed grille and a simple and round shape. The top is equipped with a through-type LED light strip, and below the through-type light strip, there is the EXEED Star brand logo. The split-type headlight presents a triangular shape and has interactive effects, with high recognition.
The front bumper features outward “eight” shaped ventilation openings with smoked black treatment to enhance sportiness and recognition. It is equipped with IGS active intake grille to effectively reduce wind resistance.
The car’s side lines are simple and smooth, with a rising waistline from the front fender creating a diving posture on the side, enhancing a more sporty visual effect. In addition, the roof is also equipped with a laser radar. In terms of details, the new car will adopt mainstream designs such as hidden door handles and frameless doors. Different styles of wheels are also available for selection.
The new car measures 4955/1975/1698mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3000mm. It is positioned as a large pure electric SUV.
The rear end design adopts a simple design language, and the wide shoulder design gives it a visually heavier look.
In the interior, the design concept of super comfortable home is adopted to create a well-organized T-shaped layered suspended central control panel, a stylish double-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and a suspended large-size LCD screen, creating a more comfortable and stylish cabin atmosphere. In addition, the new car also offers three interior color options. The 15.6-inch 2.5K suspended large-size LCD screen brings a better sense of technology to the interior.
In terms of intelligent configuration, the Star Era ET is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 intelligent cockpit platform and the fully-scenario, self-learning, and evolvable Lion AI large model voice assistant MateGPT, which supports intelligent voice interaction in four sound areas, visible speech, cabin online entertainment, intelligent navigation, mobile app remote control, multi-scenario mode, OTA upgrade and other functions, with reference to the Star Era ES.
In terms of other configurations, the new car also features electrically movable front and rear armrests, one-touch adjustable zero gravity seats for the co-pilot, dual 60W wireless fast charging for front row phones, cloud leather seats, 540° panoramic imaging, interior ambient lighting, and front and rear double-layer soundproof glass.
In addition, according to the Star Era product plan, the new car is expected to be equipped with the Lion Melody audio system, with up to 23 speakers, a peak power of 1000W, and support for panoramic sound effects. The main driver’s headrest speaker can achieve three different application scenarios: full car mode, driver mode, and private mode, and can be upgraded through OTA.
In the intelligent driving part, the new car is equipped with laser radar, referring to the Star Era ES, and is expected to be equipped with NEP full-scene navigation function.
In terms of power, the Star Era ET is built on an 800V high-voltage electrical platform and offers high/low power single motor or dual motor options. The dual motor has a maximum power of 353kW and a peak torque of 663N·m. In terms of batteries, the new car will use the Chery NP2.0 technology battery pack, offering 60kWh, 82kWh, and 100kWh versions for different models, covering a range of 500-700km. For fast charging, it supports 400V or 800V different voltage platforms, with the fastest charging time from 30% to 80% battery capacity taking only 15 minutes. At -25℃, the range can reach 63.2%. In terms of chassis suspension, following the product strategy of the Star Era ES, the Star Era ET is expected to use a lightweight steel-aluminum body and an all-aluminum chassis, equipped with front double wishbone independent suspension + rear five-link independent suspension, intelligent cloud platform air suspension, and CDC electromagnetic damping shock absorption system.
