According to a report by Autohome, the new car is expected to be launched in 2024.
In terms of appearance, the Mercedes EQG concept car continues the design language of the fuel version of the large G, with a very square body and rugged lines, even replicating the iconic front headlights completely. The side and rear of this concept car have also undergone minimal changes compared to the fuel version, mainly removing the tailpipe. In terms of interior, the Mercedes EQG concept car is basically the same as the current Mercedes G-Class in terms of design, featuring a dual-screen design connecting the full LCD instrument panel with the center multimedia display, and equipped with the latest dual three-spoke flat-bottomed sports steering wheel.
At this year’s CES exhibition, Mercedes-Benz blocked off a section of Las Vegas Boulevard late at night, allowing four prototype cars to perform a tank-style turn known as the “G-Turn.” The function, which uses four electric motors in the SUV to rotate the car 360 degrees in place, is limited to off-road use only, according to Mercedes-Benz. The company stated that the “G-Turn” can actually achieve a 720-degree rotation, but drivers can also use it for 90-degree turns to navigate complex terrain more easily. The function is activated by pressing a button on the dashboard and then gripping the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
