On February 1, Kia announced the official launch of its compact SUV, the EV5 720 Long Range version. The new vehicle will be equipped with an 88.1kWh battery, increasing the range to 720km. The Long Range version includes 3 models, priced between 18.48-22.58 million yuan. The previous 530km model was priced between 14.98-17.48 million yuan.
In terms of exterior design, the Kia EV5 adopts the latest Opposites United design concept of the family, retaining many design elements of concept cars, and the styling is characterized by personality and technology. Especially the front face style is very avant-garde, quite a classic SUV tough style.
On the side of the body, compared to the sleek roof design commonly used in the same class of vehicles, the Kia EV5 appears more rugged, with a large angle A-pillar and distinct triangular windows at the rear C-pillar, reducing wind resistance and bringing a more distinctive design. In terms of body size, the Kia EV5 measures 4615/1875/1715mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2750mm, positioning it as a compact SUV.
The rear styling is also very square, especially the taillight design that echoes the front headlights. Although it is not a through-style design, the large area of the light strip makes it look very recognizable. In addition, a silver trim panel has been added to the bottom of the bumper to increase the sense of layering at the rear of the car.
The interior still shows the traditional style of joint venture brands, although the style is not as radical as the new force brand, but the overall design also caters to the current trend of minimalist design. In terms of materials, the interior of the Kia EV5 is built on the concept of sustainable development, and the interior trim and seat leather are made of environmentally friendly renewable materials. The center console and door panel are soft-wrapped, maintaining the overall texture at the same level as the joint venture brand electric vehicles of the same price.
In terms of smart interaction, the Kia EV5 will be equipped with the latest generation ccNC in-car entertainment system, developed in deep cooperation with Baidu. The system will feature a new UI interface and optimized logic for use. It will also have a large number of built-in app applications, and support Baidu Carlife and wireless Apple CarPlay functions. In terms of safety configuration, the Kia EV5 will be equipped with L2 level driving assistance functions. Notably, the new car will be equipped with a second-generation highway driving assistance system, capable of autonomous lane changing and entering/exiting ramps. In terms of power, the Kia EV5 720 long-range version will be equipped with a single motor, with a maximum power of 160kW and a maximum torque of 310 Nm. In terms of battery, it will have an 88.1 kWh battery, with a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. Additionally, the EV5 will also support fast charging and 3.3kW external power output.
