On March 11, the new Taycan made its global debut at the Porsche Experience Center in Shanghai. The updated Taycan has undergone adjustments in exterior details and upgrades in functional configuration, chassis, and power. Both comfort and handling have been improved. Porsche officials have called it the “most dynamic Taycan ever.” Let’s now take a look at the changes and upgrades of the new car.
The front air intake of the new car has been adjusted to enhance its aggressive look and improve aerodynamics. The overall appearance of the car remains largely unchanged, but significant effort has been put into reducing its weight, resulting in a 15KG reduction through optimization of body materials and motor weight.
The new car’s headlights have a sharper and more high-tech design, equipped with HD Matrix technology and over 32,000 LED pixels to adjust lighting area and brightness based on real-time road conditions.
In terms of interior, the main changes of the new Taycan are focused on the upgrade of interior materials and functional configuration. It offers two-tone interior, with the door panels wrapped in soft materials. The new car is equipped with a LCD instrument panel, central control screen and a passenger entertainment screen. The passenger screen also supports privacy viewing mode, and the new car is equipped with wireless charging for phones. In terms of safety configuration, the new Taycan comes standard with rear view camera, lane change assist, traffic jam assist, 3D environment simulation display, and more.
In terms of power and range, the new Taycan base model has a maximum power of 300kW, 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.8s, and a maximum range of 678km under WLTP conditions. The new Taycan Turbo S model has a maximum power of 700kW, 0-100km/h acceleration in 2.4s, and a maximum range of 630km under WLTP conditions. The maximum charging current of the new car’s battery has been increased by 20%, the battery weight has been reduced by 9kg, and the total energy density has been increased by 13%. It only takes 18 minutes to fast charge from 10% to 80%. The new Taycan is equipped with a dual-chamber air suspension with dual valve dampers, replacing the previous triple-chamber air suspension, which can provide faster and more responsive handling as well as higher driving comfort.
