The Tank 330 is a symbol of performance in the history of Chinese off-road vehicles, a high-displacement hardcore off-road vehicle in China. The new car was launched on March 16th, with a price of 330,000 yuan (45840$), using an online order method for limited release from time to time, with the first batch limited to 1000 units. This time, we will experience a test drive of the Tank 330.
First, let’s talk about the overall feel of the powertrain, smoothness. Tank 330 is equipped with a 3.0T V6 engine and a longitudinal 9-speed automatic transmission. In fact, the entire powertrain is the same as the fuel version of Tank 500.
The 3.0T V6+9AT powertrain combination has matured in overall matching calibration, from the initial Tank 500 powertrain matching experience to the Shanhai Cannon 3.0T powertrain, to the current Tank 330, it can be said to be constantly evolving.
The Tank 330 powertrain almost imperceptibly shifts gears during the driving process, and the upshifts are very aggressive to achieve better fuel economy. When we need to accelerate for passing, a deep press of the accelerator pedal quickly lowers the gear by 2-3 positions, improving acceleration performance. The off-road vehicle accelerates in just a few seconds, making it a powerful performer.
Now let’s look at the other differences between Tank 330 and the regular Tank 300. Of course, the biggest difference must be the powertrain. But it’s not just as simple as cramming a V6 engine into the cockpit of Tank 300.
Firstly, the Tank 330 drive shaft is redesigned to match the differential, and the main gear and half shaft bearings of the rear axle are strengthened for higher overall strength. The steering axle bearing is changed to a double row ball bearing for better impact resistance and durability. The brake cylinder diameter is increased from 45mm to 48mm, and the brake disc outer diameter is increased from 316mm to 350mm. The steering knuckle and brake caliper sizes are upgraded to increase braking force by 27.5%. The nitrogen shock absorber is upgraded from non-adjustable damping to dual 8-stage adjustable. The shock absorber mount and winch beam strength are optimized. The torque amplification in 4L mode is increased to 2.64 times, and the MTS all-terrain mode architecture adds a new 4A mode.
The Tank 330 also provides users with exclusive gray matte paint, 18-inch AT tires, dual 8-stage adjustable nitrogen shock absorbers, 12,500-pound wireless remote winch, raised hood, decorative ring hub, and exterior “V6” logo and other original modified parts. In terms of off-road experience, it is well known that the Tank 300 uses part-time four-wheel drive, while the Tank 330 is equipped with the so-called intelligent on-demand four-wheel drive system. This system can be understood as a combination of on-demand and part-time four-wheel drive. In 4A mode, it is on-demand four-wheel drive, relying on inter-wheel slip to overcome obstacles, while in 4H mode, the center becomes a hard link, with front and rear power distribution reaching 50:50, stronger than the technology of conventional full-time four-wheel drive.
And this off-road experience includes a 40-degree climb, cross-axle off-road experience. Uncle feels that for the tank 330, it is just a drizzle, and its users should go to more outdoor places to challenge the limits, of course, the premise is to absolutely guarantee safety. The off-road ability of the tank 330 is beyond doubt, and now, who else will give you an off-road vehicle with a six-cylinder engine?
