On March 21, Beijing Auto held the “2024 Spring New Product Launch Event” at the National Stadium, the Bird’s Nest. The all-new BJ40 Dagger Hero Edition was officially available for pre-sale, offering two versions for climbers and crossers, with pre-sale prices of 189,800 and 209,800 yuan (29140$).
The BJ40 series is a “hot seller” in Beijing Automotive’s off-road products and has become an important symbol in the Chinese off-road circle. The all-new BJ40 is positioned as a “world-class trendy SUV”. The urban hunter version, launched last year, focuses on trendiness, with cool exterior design, intelligent configuration, and outstanding comfort, bringing off-road users a “suitable for city and wild” driving experience.
The all-new Blade Warrior edition continues the design style of the all-new BJ40, but specially designed professional off-road suspension increases the body height of the new Blade Warrior edition by 20mm, while also improving its off-road capability with approach angle of 38°, departure angle of 36°, and breakover angle of 28°, and a water wading depth of 800mm. The Blade Warrior edition comes standard with AT tires, and the D-shaped windows and door handles have all been “blacked out”, and the metal skid plate is standard across the entire lineup.
Meanwhile, the new Blade Hero Edition retains the classic open-style body design. The three-section top cover can be quickly removed and the removed top cover can be easily placed in the trunk. The detachable roof not only increases playability but also provides greater survival protection for users in emergencies.
Except for the roof, the front and rear bumpers, wheel eyebrows, and other parts of the Blade Hero version can be quickly removed to further improve the vehicle’s modification space and playability. At the same time, all models are equipped with a 2.5-ton towing qualification and power outlet, expanding the imagination space for outdoor activities.
In terms of safety, the new Knife Edge Hero Edition retains the “40 family” unique anti-rolling frame, same as the City Hunter Edition, also adopts an embedded design, pioneering the body hydraulic bulge technology, and the race car-level pipe beam structure derived from the racing modification concept, ensuring the effective protection of the lives of occupants in off-road scenarios.
The all-new BJ40 Blade Hero Edition, with enhanced basic configuration, is equipped with two powertrains: 2.0T gasoline and 2.0D diesel, and also comes with multiple off-road configurations. First, the all-new BJ40 Blade Hero diesel version has unique diesel power in the same class, with a rated power of 120kW and a maximum torque of 400N.m, further improving over the previous model. At the same time, the fuel tank capacity has been expanded to 85 liters, with stronger endurance capability, and the official data shows a range of over 1000km.
At the same time, the diesel version of the vehicle achieves the installation of electronic control full-time four-wheel drive, with this system, it can achieve the true meaning of “three locks”. On paved roads, full-time four-wheel drive can improve the vehicle’s power and handling stability; in off-road conditions, with the support of “three locks”, the vehicle can be rescued with a single wheel, making the off-road performance more powerful.
The gasoline version is equipped with the country’s first 4.0 large speed ratio differential, making it the only model with a factory speed ratio of 4.0 or above in the country. Paired with the mature 2.0T+8AT powertrain and the large speed ratio split four-wheel drive system, the torque is increased by 4 times, allowing the maximum wheel-end torque to reach 10250Nm, a 60% increase compared to the conventional differential, while also reducing the minimum stable vehicle speed by 60% to obtain a more stable low-speed high torque output.
At the press conference, Peng Gang, Vice President of BAIC Group and General Manager of Sales Company, announced the official pre-sale prices of the Blade Hero Edition, with the new BJ40 Blade Hero Climber priced at 189,800 yuan (26360$) and the new BJ40 Blade Hero Crosser priced at 209,800 yuan (29140$). At the same time, Beijing Automotive also introduced a number of pre-sale policies, providing users with generous benefits.
At the press conference, Beijing Auto not only launched the pre-sale of the Knife Hero Edition, but also released the BJ30 and announced that it will be launched at the Beijing Auto Show, with a pre-sale price starting at 120,000 yuan (16670$). The BJ30 is positioned as a “world-class electric four-wheel drive light off-road SUV” and is the first off-road vehicle equipped with the Magic Core electric drive super drive solution. Thanks to the Magic Core electric drive technology, the vehicle has four super abilities: “super strong, super smooth, super fuel-efficient, and super off-road.” As the vanguard of Beijing Auto’s “Joyful Outdoor” series, the BJ30 focuses on the “outdoor light travel” track, creating a “weekend wildism” concept. In addition, Song Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and president of BAIC Group, announced at the press conference that the BJ60 Magic Box Electric Drive Edition will officially meet everyone in the third quarter.
