On March 30, Dongfeng Motor officially unveiled the Dongfeng Maho electric hybrid PHREV technology. The first plug-in hybrid SUV from Dongfeng, the Fengshen L7, equipped with this technology, made its debut. The new car will be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show.
In terms of appearance, Dongfeng Fengshen L7 adopts the design concept of light-year journey to create a stylish and technological look. The new car measures 4685/1905/1625mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2775mm.
The front end features curved LED lights and a flat, wide wing-like element, creating a flying wing front face. Integrated curved LED welcome lights and wing-like fog light area incorporate intelligent light language, creating a warm emotional expression.
The side of the car has a hunting style, the suspended roof design is dynamic and fashionable, hidden door handles and low drag wheels can bring longer range.
The rear design is aggressive, especially the V-shaped spoiler and integrated high-mounted brake light, providing a strong visual impact. The rear also features a 2000mm long LED light bar, showcasing an attacking stance.
In terms of interior, the Dongfeng Fengshen L7 features a floating island-style center console design, with 128-color ambient lighting and 13 speakers with independent amplifiers. The car is equipped with WindLink OS 3.0 smart cockpit, standard with Qualcomm 8155 chip, 14.6-inch LCD screen, and 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel. Full scene 100% voice interaction, millisecond response speed, can recognize 6 consecutive commands within 10 seconds, voice control covers all car functions.
The front seats feature a one-piece sport design with a “T” shaped 3-section backrest design, a “2-section” cushion design, and an integrated sport headrest, fully conforming to the body curve. The driver’s seat has 6-way power adjustment with memory function, while the passenger seat has 4-way power adjustment, supporting seat heating/ventilation.
The Dongfeng Fengshen L7 is the first model equipped with Dongfeng Mahler electric hybrid PHREV technology. The 1.5T hybrid engine has a thermal efficiency of 45.18% and a system’s maximum power of 265kW, with a peak torque of 615N·m. Dongfeng has also developed a hybrid engine with a breakthrough thermal efficiency of 47%, aiming to exceed 48% by 2025, and is conducting research on new technologies to achieve a thermal efficiency breakthrough of 50%.
Paired with this is the 4th gear intelligent hybrid electric drive, with 7 energy management modes, 26 sub-working modes, system efficiency of 93%, and high efficiency zone utilization rate of 95%. This system has 4 fixed gears and 2 power split gears, balancing the advantages of low-speed fuel consumption and smooth driving with power split, low-speed fuel consumption and excellent power performance in multi-gear parallel high-speed fuel consumption. The 4th gear structure is the golden ratio point of gears in multi-gear hybrid configurations, saving 9% fuel in comprehensive conditions compared to single gear, 4% compared to 2nd gear, and 2% compared to 3rd gear.
One interesting point is that the Dongfeng Fengshen L7 is equipped with the i-Control intelligent electronic control system, which has AI predictive energy management. It automatically adjusts to the most fuel-efficient power mode by recognizing road conditions, allowing even novices to become a “golden right foot.”
The Dongfeng Fengshen L7 is equipped with a 30.2kW·h power battery, with a pure electric range of 205km, fuel consumption of 3.8L/100km when charging, and a comprehensive fuel consumption of 0.56L/100km. It can achieve a super long range of 1500km when fully charged. The Dongfeng Fengshen L7 has a charging power of 45kW, and only takes 26 minutes to reach 30%-80% SOC. It is worth mentioning that Dongfeng Motors is currently developing solid-state batteries and 6C super fast charging technology, which can charge 80% in just 10 minutes.
