Specifically, the BMW new generation concept car will make its China debut at this year’s Beijing Auto Show. According to reports, the BMW new generation concept car showcases BMW’s vision for future sedan models in design and digitalization. The new generation BMW models are considered a breakthrough for the BMW brand and product direction, featuring a newly developed electronic and electrical architecture, a new user interface and human-machine interaction concept, a new high-performance and significantly efficient electric drive and battery system, and a new high in the product’s entire life cycle sustainability.
According to the plan, BMW’s next-generation models will be produced domestically at the Shenyang production base in 2026. Globally, BMW’s next-generation models will be launched next year, with at least 6 models in production within the following 24 months. Apart from the BMW Next Generation Concept Car, the first pure electric crossover model MINI ACEMAN and the all-new electric MINI COOPER will respectively make their global debut and domestic debut at the Beijing Auto Show; the new pure electric BMW i4 will have its global premiere. As previously disclosed, BMW will offer 11 pure electric models in the Chinese market by 2024.
According to data, BMW and MINI electric vehicles have become the main driver of BMW’s business growth. Financial data shows that in 2023, BMW delivered over 375,000 electric vehicles globally, a 74.2% increase compared to the previous year, achieving the goal of electric vehicle sales accounting for about 15% of the total sales. In the Chinese market, BMW delivered around 100,000 electric vehicles, more than 1.3 times the previous year. “The largest increase in BMW’s global electric vehicle models comes from the Chinese market. Obviously, the development of our electric vehicles in the Chinese market is not lagging behind. Our goal is not only sales numbers, but also to maintain our position, targeting the luxury segment market, which is currently effective.” Recently, BMW Group Chairman Zipse said in an interview. In addition to electrified new products, the new BMW 4 Series two-door coupe, convertible coupe, BMW M high-performance models like the new BMW M4, and the BMW iX5 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle are important products showcased by BMW at this year’s Beijing Auto Show. In terms of technology, BMW’s new products cover various drive forms like gasoline, electric, hydrogen, and hybrid. Among them, the new BMW 4 Series two-door coupe and convertible coupe will be officially launched at the Beijing Auto Show; the BMW iX5 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle can be refueled in 4 minutes and has a range of over 500 kilometers. “BMW adheres to an open technology strategy, allowing consumers to make choices and providing them with the products they need at the right time.
