The new energy trend is surging, and Red Flag, as a traditional independent brand, cannot stand aside. Recently, we shot a different Red Flag offline, the newly launched EH7, a mid-sized pure electric sedan priced between 22.98-30.98 million yuan. Let’s take a look at its highlights!
Exterior design: Front of the car looks good, rear is controversial.
The front end highlights the closed design of new energy style, with L-shaped headlights and a black trim extending downward, giving it a sharp look.
The logo has been redesigned. The original one was better and more recognizable. The new logo looks younger but lacks the brand’s weight without the red flag.
The car is 4980mm long, but the short hood and rear make it look less stretched out.
The wheel style is a traditional five-spoke design, without any low drag elements. The display car is not high-end, with tire size of 245/50 R18, the high-end version will use 19-inch tires.
The taillights of the car feature a continuous design, but the design of the light strip is not simple or modern enough, it feels a bit too aggressive. Interior design: The center console is complex, have you ever seen a unique-shaped center screen?
The center console layout is not regular, with many curves jumping between disorder and hierarchy. The interior color is quite fresh, personally preferring this light green over traditional black or beige.
The steering wheel has a very aggressive design, departing from the traditional circular shape and resembling more of an octagon.
The Hongqi EH7 features a concealed shifting mechanism, now more and more electric cars are using this form, saving a lot of space in the central armrest area.
The light control is here, on the left side of the dashboard, with touch operation.
The good news is the dashboard is all LCD, the bad news is it’s only 6 inches, smaller than current smartphones.
The first time I saw the alien central control screen, it was 15.5 inches in size. No need to worry about functions, it includes online navigation, online audio and video, dual-zone voice recognition, and remote control via mobile app.
Under the central control screen are buttons for controlling the air conditioning, which can also be operated by touch. Additionally, does the red decorative strip on the air vent remind you of anything?
Due to the use of a console-style gear shift, the center armrest is mostly used for storage, with a suspended storage platform integrated with wireless charging for phones, standard across all models. Space performance: With a wheelbase of 3000mm, the seating experience is quite spacious.
The headrest of the driver’s seat is interesting, it seems to be equipped with headrest speakers, all seats are leather with perforated craftsmanship. Standard features include front row power adjustment, heating, ventilation, etc.
The wheelbase of the Hongqi EH7 reaches 3000mm, providing a spacious rear seating experience. Despite being an electric car, there is still a noticeable bump in the center of the floor, which is a drawback.
Standard with heat pump air conditioning and rear air vents, there are two different types of charging ports below.
Although there is no spare tire, the trunk capacity is only 400 liters. The rear seats can be folded down to further expand the space. Power range: two versions with single or dual motors, with a maximum range of 820 kilometers.
The Hongqi EH7 offers two versions, one with a single motor and the other with dual motors. The former has a maximum power of 253 kW and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, while the latter has a maximum power of 455 kW and a maximum torque of 756 Nm. In terms of acceleration, the single motor version is fastest at 5.8 seconds, while the dual motor version is fastest at 3.5 seconds. For range, there are five CLTC ranges: 600 km, 640 km, 690 km, 760 km, and 820 km, depending on battery capacity and motor power. In terms of chassis, the Hongqi EH7 uses a front double wishbone + rear five-link suspension system, providing good handling and shock absorption. This is the first Hongqi car to use the new energy brand logo. Overall, the performance is satisfactory, especially in terms of power and range, reaching mainstream levels. However, there are areas for improvement, such as the car’s chip and seat functions. Looking around, the Hongqi EH7 faces significant pressure, especially from competitors like the Xiaomi SU7, which is priced similarly. So, between the Hongqi EH7 and the Xiaomi SU7, which one would you choose?
