On April 23, on the eve of the Beijing Auto Show, Radar Automotive’s all-electric pickup truck, the Radar Horizon, was officially launched, with a price range of 18.18-22.18 million yuan. The new car, as the four-wheel drive version of the Radar RD6, is equipped with front and rear dual motors, with a total power of 315kW, peak torque of 594Nm, and 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.5 seconds. In addition, the 2024 model Radar RD6 was also officially launched, with a price of 15.18-19.98 million yuan.
In terms of design, the radar horizon continues the styling of the radar RD6, with minor adjustments to details. The English letters of the logo have been moved from the engine hood to the front grille, making it more prominent. The rear of the car has added the “4WD” logo, highlighting the identity of the four-wheel drive version.
In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 5260/1900/1880mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 3120mm. The cargo box measures 1525/1450/540mm, with a capacity of up to 1200L.
In terms of interior, the car features a simple and tech-style design. The overall style is more like a pure electric SUV for home use. The suspended large central control screen, paired with a full LCD instrument panel, meets the needs of consumers. The styling of the air conditioning vents is more simple and durable compared to the RD6. At the same time, the materials used in the interior are richer, enhancing the sense of grade and visual effects.
In terms of power, the Radar Horizon series comes standard with dual-motor four-wheel drive, total power of 315kW, maximum torque of 594Nm, and 0-100 acceleration in 4.5 seconds. In terms of batteries, the new car offers two versions to choose from: a 73kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and an 86kWh ternary lithium battery, with CLTC ranges of 460km and 520km respectively. Additionally, the new car comes standard with 100kW fast charging, taking only 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% battery capacity.
With a powerful dual-motor four-wheel drive system, the Horizon can achieve a maximum climbing slope of 95%, which is very exaggerated. In terms of off-road performance, the new vehicle offers seven driving modes such as sport, mud, snow, and off-road, allowing quick adjustment according to different road conditions, and has a wading capacity of 815mm. In addition, this pickup truck also has a towing force of up to 3 tons. Furthermore, the new vehicle can also achieve a “tank turn” function, allowing the vehicle to turn with a radius of 3.5m.
As a pioneer in the domestic pure electric pickup truck market, the first model of Redar Auto, RD6, has been well received by many consumers since its launch in 2022. The emerging product of pure electric pickup trucks is also gradually gaining recognition from more consumers. Compared to the starting price of 151,800 yuan (20950$) for the RD6 model, the price of Redar Horizon has slightly increased. But for less than 200,000 yuan (27600$), enjoying a dual-motor pickup truck with 4-second acceleration seems quite cost-effective.
