At the Beijing Auto Show on April 25, the Porsche Macan EV was officially launched. The new car comes in two models, priced at 728,000 yuan (100560$) and 968,000 yuan (133710$). As one of Porsche’s best-selling models, the new Macan has been redesigned with a pure electric design based on the PPE platform. In terms of design, the overall style of the new car is similar to the current gasoline version. However, the details have become more concise, meeting the aesthetic preferences of consumers.
The vehicle measures 4784/1938/1622mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2893mm. The body dimensions have not changed much compared to gasoline vehicles, only the length and wheelbase have increased significantly. The all-new Macan now has a 84L front trunk volume after being freed from the constraints of internal combustion engines.
The rear looks more rounded and full, with embedded taillights in a continuous design. A small spoiler is cleverly placed under the rear windshield, with electric adjustable design. The new car has a low drag coefficient of 0.25Cd.
In terms of interior, the Macan EV still uses a relatively traditional T-shaped layout, with a three-screen design highlighting a sense of technology and luxury. Some models in the official images do not come with a passenger screen, which may be an optional configuration in the future. The overall design still focuses on the driver, with the gear lever moved to the right of the steering wheel and the one-touch start button remaining on the left side of the steering wheel based on Porsche tradition. In terms of power, the Macan EV will all use the latest generation of permanent magnet synchronous motors. The maximum power is set at 300kW and 470kW depending on the model, with maximum torque of 650Nm and 1130Nm respectively. To improve efficiency, silicon carbide is used as a semiconductor material in the rear axle pulse inverter, reducing conversion losses and achieving a higher conversion frequency. The new car is equipped with a 100kWh battery pack, with WLTP range of 613km and 591km respectively. Thanks to the 800V technology architecture, the Macan’s maximum charging power can reach 270kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.
