On the eve of the opening of the Beijing Auto Show on April 24, 2024, Volkswagen Group officially unveiled a number of heavyweight models at the “Volkswagen Group Night” event. The ID.CODE, ID.UNYX, Taycan 4, Q6L e-tron, Lamborghini URUS SE, Bentley BATUR, and Ducati DIAVEL for BENTLEY were all showcased at the booth. Volkswagen ID.CODE The ID.CODE is a model specially designed for the Chinese market by Volkswagen. The new car features a sleek SUV coupe body design with a small roof spoiler device for a sporty visual effect. The rear end is designed with minimal lines for a simplified overall design. The design of the lights focuses on interaction at the rear of the car, with a continuous light strip and an illuminated Volkswagen logo.
In terms of interior, Volkswagen says the new car follows the ultimate intelligent design, prepared for Level 4 autonomous driving. It is worth mentioning that the new car is also equipped with an in-car floor sweeping robot, which can keep the cabin clean and tidy at all times.
The concept car is customized for the Chinese market, focusing on intelligent connectivity to meet the needs of Chinese users. The official statement says the new car will showcase unlimited imagination for the era of intelligent connectivity with a completely new design and technological language. Volkswagen Anhui ID.UNYX ID.UNYX is the first model produced by Volkswagen Anhui, positioned as a compact coupe-style SUV. It will feature a new golden Volkswagen logo, symbolizing quality. It brings Volkswagen’s intelligent electrified products and services into a new segment market. Notably, all new cars under this new category will use the golden Volkswagen logo.
The new car, based on the MEB platform, is positioned as an A-class pure electric coupe SUV and will be launched in the domestic market in 2024. The exterior design features the distinctive Volkswagen family style, with exaggerated front bumper, integrated front light with LED headlights, and high recognition. The side profile adopts the coupe SUV design, with narrow windows and large wheels for a sporty look. The black A-pillar and floating roof create a modern feel. The dimensions are 4663/1860/1610mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2766mm. The rear of the new car features an integrated tail design with a wing, tail lights, and high-mounted brake light. The U-shaped tail lights have a strong recognition with a simple and atmospheric overall effect. In terms of power, the car will be equipped with a dual-motor system with a maximum power of 80kW and 170kW for the front and rear motors respectively. The battery will be a ternary lithium battery pack produced by CATL. Audi Q6L e-tron The Audi Q6L e-tron, based on the PPE platform, is a model specifically designed for the Chinese market. The wheelbase has been extended by 105mm and the battery capacity increased by 7kWh. The interior and intelligent configuration have been localized upgrades, and the new car will be mass-produced in Audi’s new factory in FAW in the fourth quarter of this year.
In terms of appearance, the new car continues the enclosed front grille design of electric cars, equipped with the second-generation digital OLED taillight technology, with 6 OLED panels and 360 luminous units, allowing the Audi Q6 e-tron to demonstrate a more personalized interactive capability. The side of the car maintains the lines of a coupe SUV, with a strong sense of sportiness, and the design space is further enlarged with a short rear overhang. In terms of body size, the new car is 4771/1939/1648mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2899mm.
The Audi Q6L e-tron features a five-seat design with a trunk volume of 526L, which can be further expanded to 1529L by folding the rear seats. The vehicle offers both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, with power outputs of 255kW and 345kW respectively. The lithium-ion battery pack consists of 12 modules and 192 prismatic cells, providing a total capacity of 107kWh and a range of over 700 kilometers under CLTC conditions. The Porsche Taycan 4 is a special model tailored for the Chinese market, with customized adjustments for Chinese consumers. Additionally, Audi and Porsche will integrate their charging stations, offering high-end charging services to users of both brands.
The new car’s appearance is similar to the regular version, with HD Matrix technology in the headlights and over 32,000 LED light sources. The focus is on intelligent features, with localized apps like QQ Music and WeChat integrated into the Porsche ecosystem. The communication system includes a local app store for popular third-party apps. The new car has dual motors, all-wheel drive, 380kW power, 105kWh battery, 3.9s 0-100km/h acceleration, and 676km WLTP range. The Lamborghini Urus SE will officially debut and be available in the domestic market in the second half of 2024.
The new car has a new lower grille and upgraded matrix LED headlights inspired by the bull’s tail on the Lamborghini logo. There are over 100 combinations of exterior and interior colors, and users can also customize their own.
The new car’s biggest highlight is its powertrain, equipped with a 4.0T V8 twin-turbocharged engine + electric motor plug-in hybrid system. The V8 engine has a maximum power of 620 horsepower and a maximum torque of 800 N·m, while the electric motor can output a maximum of 192 horsepower and 483 N·m. The maximum combined output power can reach 800 horsepower, with a peak torque of 950 N·m, and it comes with a 25.9kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric range of over 60 kilometers. Bentley Mulliner Bacur Bentley’s flagship two-door coupe, the Mulliner Bacur, made its debut in China, with a global limited edition of one unit, specially tailored for Chinese customers. Handcrafted by the Mulliner department, each vehicle’s design will be completed in collaboration with the Mulliner interior design team and the customer, who can customize the body color and interior trim according to their preferences.
In terms of appearance, the new car features a two-door design with a sleek front hood and a sporty sloping roof. The car paint is custom-made, with a glossy black titanium grille and red accents. The lines of the “boundaryless engine hood” and 22-inch wheels are finished in matte titanium paint, complemented by glossy and matte crystal black spokes for a sporty look. The interior adopts a contrasting color design and offers various customization options. The center console has three mechanical gauges with a LCD screen. Additionally, many control buttons are clustered around the gear lever, including seat adjustment buttons.
In terms of power, the new car is equipped with the strongest W12 engine in Bentley’s history, with a maximum power of over 740 horsepower and peak torque of up to 1000 Nm. The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Additionally, the new car features adaptive air suspension, electronic active roll control, electronic limited-slip differential, all-wheel steering system, and torque vectoring control. Diavel for Bentley The first collaboration between Ducati and Bentley introduces a new motorcycle inspired by Batur, based on the Diavel V4 and limited to 500 units, plus 50 more special “Ducati Diavel for Bentley Mulliner” motorcycles.
In terms of power, the Diavel for Bentley features a 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine with a maximum power of 168 horsepower.
