On April 25th at the Beijing Auto Show, Changan Mazda’s first flagship new product EZ-6 based on a pure electric platform made its debut. EZ-6 marks Changan Mazda’s comprehensive transformation into the electric race track, and it is the first new energy flagship sedan in the joint venture brand camp in the Chinese automotive market based on a leading pure electric platform, which is quite significant.
In terms of appearance, the EZ-6 still uses a family-style design, retaining a large grille and adopting a popular through-water grid headlight design. Mazda calls it the “MAZDA Wing,” which lights up like wings and feathers when illuminated, integrating exquisite appearance and advanced technology.
Arriving at the side, a very eye-catching waistline connects directly from the rearview mirror to the tail of the car, clean and neat. The EZ-6 uses light and shadow to create a muscular feel for this car, with simple and smooth lines inspired by legendary Mazda sports cars such as the MAZDA6 and MAZDA COSMO in history. In terms of size, the EZ-6 is 4921/1890/1485mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2900mm.
The rear features a continuous light strip, complementing the front. Four circular lights have been added to the sides of the rear lights, showcasing Mazda’s unique style. The tail lights, along with the integrated adjustable electric rear wing, create a simple and elegant look.
In terms of interior design, the dashboard features a floating style with a 14.6-inch high-definition touchscreen LCD display, making it the first domestic joint venture new energy vehicle to use such a large screen. The interior is decorated with leather or suede-style materials, along with matte chrome trim, giving it a very good overall quality.
Officially, not much is revealed about performance, but it is known that the new car will offer two power options, pure electric and extended range. Following the global debut of the MAZDA EZ-6, Changan Mazda’s second electric car concept model, the MAZDA ARATA, made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show. The electric SUV developed based on the concept car, like the MAZDA EZ-6, also offers two power configurations – BEV and REEV. It is planned to be launched in the Chinese market in 2025. Changan Mazda is also preparing for the third and fourth new energy vehicle models. In the domestic car market, Changan Mazda has launched its own electric offensive.
