On May 8th, the 6 millionth vehicle, the innovative all-electric BMW i5, rolled off the production line at the Huachen BMW Dadong Plant.
Dr. Norbert Reithofer, responsible for production at BMW Group, said, “Continuous innovation is one of the core competitive strengths of BMW Group’s high-quality development. Thanks to leading global manufacturing concepts, production systems, and processes, we will continuously present benchmark luxury quality to users at home and abroad.”
The birthplace of the all-new BMW 5 Series long-wheelbase version – Huachen BMW Dadong Factory has adopted an industry-leading AI intelligent quality inspection system to monitor the production quality of stamped parts in the workshop. The “never tired” AI intelligent quality inspection system, independently developed by BMW, can not only track and inspect every part on the production line, but also analyze data at an extremely fast speed. It only takes 0.01 seconds to complete the analysis of a single image data of the stamping process, and the detection accuracy can gradually approach 100%. It makes tiny gaps that are invisible to the naked eye also become apparent, ensuring that parts enter the next process in the best condition. BMW’s Shenyang production base has accumulated a total investment of 105 billion RMB since 2010. Looking to the future and making a firm commitment, BMW Group recently announced an additional investment of 20 billion RMB in China, which will be used for a large-scale upgrade and technological innovation at the Shenyang production base.
