The fourth-generation new Continental GT will debut in June, the first model built on Bentley’s new high-performance plug-in hybrid system. The new Continental GT has a maximum power of 782 horsepower, peak torque of 1,000 Nm, and an 80 km pure electric range. In WLTP driving conditions, the comprehensive CO2 emissions are less than 50 g/km, marking an important step towards the future for Bentley. This model will not only be the most powerful and dynamic road car in Bentley’s 105-year history, but also the most sustainable product, embodying Bentley’s unique luxury craftsmanship and superior materials.
The latest generation chassis technology includes an active four-wheel drive system with torque vectoring, all-wheel steering system, electronic limited-slip differential, 48V active anti-roll control system, and advanced new dual-valve shock absorbers. A fresh design and a range of innovative technologies together define the latest generation model that embodies modern Bentley cars. Since its debut in 2002, the Continental GT model has opened a new chapter for the Bentley brand. This model has driven Bentley’s commercial growth, increasing sales tenfold, and redefining the modern style of Bentley cars. The design and performance concept of the Continental GT model are inspired by the 1952 Continental R model, which was the fastest super luxury four-seat sedan in the world at the time, defining luxury sports travel and earning its name as a long-distance vehicle for crossing the European continent. The Continental GT model retains the same three key design lines – power line, rear waistline, and roof curve.
The launch of the Continental GT model had a profound impact – within four years, Bentley’s annual sales soared from about 1,000 to over 10,000. The second generation Continental GT debuted in Paris in 2010 and started taking orders in October of the same year, with deliveries beginning in early 2011. Initially powered by a W12 engine, a 4.0-liter V8 engine was added in 2012 as an option. The third generation Continental GT was introduced in 2018, built on a new dedicated platform with new engine, suspension, electrical architecture, technology, and interior and exterior design, setting a new benchmark for the fiercely competitive ultra-luxury GT segment today. Over the past 20 years, the Continental GT has continuously broken speed records and won numerous championships and endurance races worldwide. Today, the Continental GT is the second most popular model in the Bentley lineup, with one out of every three Bentleys sold being a Continental GT. Early next year, the 100,000th unit of this iconic ultra-luxury sports grand tourer will be handcrafted at Bentley’s “dream factory” headquarters in Crewe, UK.
