First, the car comes in two versions: 1.5T and 2.0T. We test drove the model with a 2.0T engine, with a maximum power of 175kW and maximum torque of 385Nm. The transmission is equipped with a 9DCT gearbox. According to official information, compared to the previous generation 4N20 engine, the maximum power has increased by 13% and torque by 18%.
Its power delivery follows a progressive pattern. After initial acceleration, the vehicle provides a relatively gentle power feedback experience. Press the accelerator deeper, and you will feel the power kick in quickly, even a sense of explosion, which becomes more pronounced when switching to sport mode. The throttle response is more sensitive – just a slight touch, and you can feel a quicker power response.
Talking about the throttle pedal, I personally feel it lacks some responsiveness and the feedback is a bit soft. For first-time drivers, they need to adapt to its rhythm. The brake pedal, on the other hand, has a good feel and the overall braking power is progressive, giving good confidence in braking.
The 9DCT gearbox in the 2.0T model shifts very quickly. Throughout the entire day of test driving, there was no sense of hesitation. It quickly downshifts when the accelerator is pressed, making it suitable for daily driving habits.
The suspension of the vehicle performs well as a qualified family car, with a soft tuning that provides a comfortable ride on bumpy roads. Especially on a section of dirt road with gravel on the mountain, the suspension can handle continuous vibrations steadily, giving the chassis a stable feeling.
The 4WD model is equipped with BorgWarner’s sixth-generation intelligent electronic control 4WD system, with six modes: economy, standard, sport, snow, sand, and off-road. The 4WD and body quality of the Haval H6, in my opinion, are in line with the concept of “light wild”. Although it does not have strong off-road performance, it can meet users’ reliability needs for outdoor self-driving.
It uses Nai Sitech EPS electric power steering, which adjusts with vehicle speed to ensure light steering at low speeds and stability at high speeds, enhancing safety. To be honest, the overall changes in the new generation of the Haval H6 are not very obvious, but its success lies in the detailed changes. For example, in the front of the car, we can see that it adopts a new grille design, the intake grille is similar to scales, the shape is more three-dimensional, giving a strong impact. At the same time, everyone can also see that the new car adopts a new headlight design, adding a “tear eye” design, undoubtedly further enriching the visual elements of the front of the car.
The body length, width, and height of the car are 4703/1886/1730mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2738mm. The car has a significant advantage in width and wheelbase in the same class. In addition, the new car emphasizes youth and sportiness. Therefore, features such as the roof luggage rack, window trim, and wheels are all treated in black, giving it a cooler look. The design of the rear end is understated, but fits the characteristics of a family car. It looks similar to other models in the family. The removal of the full-width taillights is not a bad thing. I especially like the new design of the car’s interior. As a compact SUV for families in the 100,000 RMB price range, it achieves the design features of a 200,000 RMB new energy vehicle – technological, simple, and high-quality. After getting in the car, I noticed soft materials used in various areas like the black area of the center console, the light-colored area below, the car doors, and the central sliding track.
The central control screen comes with a 14.6-inch size, which is great, and the floating design looks good. Speaking of new energy vehicles, this car model in the 100,000 yuan (13800$) range performs very well. The Coffee OS 2 smart cabin system operates smoothly with no issues. The system includes Huawei’s smartphone-car connectivity solution and an app market for users to download software they need, enhancing entertainment and lifestyle options for the car. The intelligent voice interaction system features multi-command parallel processing, dual-zone design for driver and passenger, voice interaction games, and common system commands that do not require waking up, basically meeting the mainstream level of this class of vehicles.
