On June 6, Maserati unveiled two electric models in downtown Shanghai, the GranTurismo sports car and the Grecale electric SUV, both part of the Trident brand’s Folgore series. The GranTurismo EV is priced at 1.988 million yuan, while the Grecale electric SUV is priced at 898,800 yuan (124010$). This debut signifies Maserati’s commitment to the Folgore electrification strategy, continuing to progress in the future of travel.

Two models belong to the Folgore series, also the first Italian ultra-luxury brand to introduce pure electric vehicles globally. Both models uphold 100% Italian design, development, and manufacturing. The Modena factory, responsible for the production of the MC20 and MC20 Cielo convertible sports cars, will become the core production base for the electric versions. Currently, Maserati has launched 100% electric vehicles including: the first pure electric GranTurismo sports car, the first pure electric SUV Grecale, and the GranCabrio pure electric convertible. By 2028, all models under the brand will be fully electrified, continuing the pure driving and luxury experience of the brand’s products.

The GranTurismo electric sports car features a unique integrated front hood and main body connected by four fenders, with the C-pillar curve engraved with the trident logo. It is equipped with an 800-volt technology and power system, paired with three powerful 300-kilowatt permanent magnet motors, achieving a maximum combined power of 810 kilowatts. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 325 kilometers per hour.

In terms of power batteries, the GranTurismo electric sports car is equipped with batteries produced by the Turin Mirafiori battery factory, with a nominal capacity of 90 kilowatt-hours. It uses a T-shaped distribution layout to enhance the handling of the vehicle and reduce the inertia coefficient of the electric car.

The GranTurismo electric sports car can charge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes with DC fast charging.

Grejac pure electric SUV features a front face design that continues the family style, with high recognition. The grille has been optimized for cooling needs, with the redesigned diffuser enhancing functionality. The grille adopts a luminous LED “shark gill” structure, highlighting the identity of new energy vehicles.

The Grejac Pure Electric SUV has a very atmospheric overall body shape, which is not much different from the fuel version in appearance. It features a large vertical grille and a trident badge on the D-pillar, with slightly different colors from the fuel version. On the side of the body, three sets of classic side vents are retained in the vehicle, and the Folgore logo is added as decoration.

The rear end of the car is similar to the fuel version, but the original exhaust pipe is filled with two deflectors at the lower exhaust port position.

In terms of interior design, it remains consistent with the gasoline version, featuring curved lines and leather upholstery to maintain the luxurious tone of the Maserati brand. The center console screen is divided into upper and lower sections, with physical shift buttons.

In terms of power, the Greca electric SUV is powered by 400-volt technology, providing up to 820 Nm of maximum torque and 410 kW of output power, reaching a top speed of 220 km/h.

In addition, both models use innovative materials in the interior, such as Econyl® recycled nylon fibers made from materials recovered from the ocean and industrial textile waste, enhanced with laser cutting technology. The two models also have the roar of a fuel car, created by digitally shaping the sound of the motor driven by the vehicle inverter.

In summary, Maserati has launched two pure electric models in China, aligning with the goal of full electrification of all models by 2028. After participating in Formula E races and successfully testing on the track, Maserati has officially entered the field of electrification. Facing competition in the Chinese new energy market, Maserati not only brings technical capabilities but also market experience and brand influence gained from previous efforts in China. Compared to other luxury brands, Maserati is more favored by Chinese consumers, and it is believed that in the era of new energy, Maserati will have better sales performance.
