On June 14, the launch event of the Lantu FREE 318 with the theme “The World is Close at Hand ROAD TO FREE 318” was held grandly at the Ya’an 318 Zero Kilometer Self-driving Tour Base. The new car has launched X models with differentiated configurations, priced between 22.89-26.69 million yuan, with a first-sale period discount price of 21.99-24.79 million yuan. As a mid-to-large-sized extended-range SUV, the new car has been renewed and upgraded in terms of appearance, endurance, power, driving control, intelligence, and safety based on the Lantu FREE, aiming to be an excellent partner for consumers’ road trips.
In terms of appearance, the Lantu FREE 318 adopts a blade armor avant-garde design, with a family language of wing-through light strips on the front face, different scenes have different dynamic effects, with a high degree of recognition. The innovative mechanical bionic intake grille is not only beautiful, but also takes into account aerodynamic efficiency, effectively reducing wind resistance and improving range.
On the side of the body, the Lantu FREE 318 creates a smooth and powerful profile with a golden ratio of 2.981, 3 times axle ratio, and 2 times wheel height ratio. The new titanium crystal gray exclusive color and colorful calipers added to the Lantu FREE base model make the vehicle shine in any environment. The dimensions of the new car are 4905/1950/1645mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2960mm.
The rear design highlights muscular tension, exuding charm from every angle, becoming the focal point of travel photography. The rear is also equipped with an anti-gravity spoiler, enhancing the car’s sporty feel.
The interior design of the Lantu FREE 318 has been updated with two color options: black-green and gray. High-quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship are used, such as bio-suede material comparable to supercars and carbon fiber film decoration, creating a highly sporty and technological driving environment.
The integrated lift three-screen design is very eye-catching, not only enhancing the in-car tech atmosphere, but also providing a more convenient operating experience for drivers. At the same time, the smoothness of the Lantu FREE 318’s car machine is further improved, with officials stating that the car machine response time has been shortened to just 0.6 seconds.
In terms of cabin comfort, the Roewe FREE 318 has upgraded front windshield and rear door glass to 5mm double-layer soundproof glass, ensuring a quieter ride at high speeds. The speakers are produced by Dynaudio, with 10 Hi-Fi speaker units throughout the vehicle for an ultimate auditory experience. In terms of power, the Lantu FREE 318 is equipped with the new generation DAM15NTDE 1.5T four-cylinder turbocharger, with a maximum output power of 110kW, a maximum fuel conversion efficiency of 3.2kWh/L, and a rear-wheel drive version with a fuel consumption of only 6.19L/100km, with a comprehensive fuel consumption as low as 0.5L/100km. The new car uses a 43kWh battery pack, and the rear-wheel drive version has a pure electric range of up to 318km with CLTC, and a full fuel and electricity CLTC range of 1458km. The Lantu FREE 318 also offers comfortable, economical, high-energy, off-road, and snow driving modes. Depending on the driving mode and conditions, the vehicle can intelligently adjust the torque distribution of the four-wheel drive system to achieve optimal fuel economy and power; while also applying the LFC function for the first time, ensuring that regenerative braking is always in a stable range to ensure consistent driving feel.
At the same time, the Lantu FREE 318 high-performance air suspension supports 100mm adaptive adjustment, providing comfort while making it easy for the elderly and children to get in and out of the car, smoothly passing through bumpy roads, making the Lantu FREE 318 easy to drive and comfortable to ride. In terms of intelligent driving, the Lantu FREE 318 will offer the new Apollo L2.9 intelligent driving optional package 2.0, with a success rate of >95% in entering and exiting ramp scenes, >99% success rate in autonomous lane changing, and <1 take-over per hundred kilometers. At the same time, the navigation assistance intelligent driving has also upgraded with four practical new functions, including cone recognition, ICA traffic light intersection following, parking in dim light environments, and GLA traffic light reminders.
