With the acceleration of the electrification and intelligence of automobiles, as well as the increasing proportion of multi-person households, the demand for MPVs continues to grow. Especially in the new energy MPV market, it has become a new growth point due to its advantages such as low carbon environmental protection and flexible space. At the same time, consumers’ requirements for vehicle safety, comfort, and technology configuration are also increasing. In this context, LEVC has launched its first model with the SOA space-oriented architecture, also LEVC’s first vehicle for the C-end market – the L380.
As a high-end pure electric MPV dedicated to luxury, intelligence, and safety, L380 strives to meet the market’s demand for various functional spaces such as high-end business, family leisure, government travel, large-scale living, and AI sharing spaces with its outstanding performance and innovative design. Recently, we were invited to participate in the test drive of L380, and below is my driving experience shared with everyone.
1. New car highlights 1. The modern and stylish exterior design features rounded front lines and circular headlights, giving it an elegant and atmospheric look. The rear of the car adopts a through-type taillight design, making it highly recognizable. 2. The interior layout uses a wrap-around design and plenty of soft materials to create a luxurious feel. The interior incorporates elements of both Eastern and Western cultures, with a floating central control screen and a yacht-style secondary instrument panel, showcasing a blend of technology and luxury. 3. Equipped with the Flyme Auto car system, supporting eight-screen linkage and seamless connection to mobile applications. The application of the Sensetime AI big model enables the vehicle to have unique functions such as health monitoring and intelligent interaction. 4. Using fully independent aviation seats, made of top-grade semi-aniline leather for a delicate and soft touch. The seats support heating, ventilation, massage, and other functions, providing passengers with a luxurious and comfortable riding experience. 5. Built on a space-oriented architecture SOA platform, supporting various seat layout combinations to meet diverse user needs. The effective length and cargo ratio inside the car reach a leading level in the same class, with ample space in the second and third rows that can be flexibly adjusted through seat adjustments. 6. The four-wheel drive dual-motor version has a maximum power of 400kW, breaking 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds. Using CATL battery technology, the range can reach 825km, meeting the needs of long-distance travel. At the same time, the chassis design has been carefully optimized to provide excellent handling and comfort. 2. Elegant and stylish, extraordinary The exterior design of the L380 is full of modernity and fashion. The front face features rounded front lines that are simple and aesthetically pleasing, breaking away from the traditional MPV’s large mouth and bullet-shaped designs, perfectly blending new era technological aesthetics with a grand, elegant luxury appearance. The circular headlights at the front resemble a smiling curve, welcoming guests from all directions and showcasing the vehicle’s grandeur and elegance. The design of the peanut headlights symbolizes good things happening, adding a touch of warmth and agility to the entire vehicle.
In terms of details, the gap between the front bumper and the front crash beam is 123mm, exceeding the industry average of 85mm, which helps better protect pedestrians’ legs in case of accidents, reflecting LEVC’s emphasis on safety.
The car’s side lines are smooth, the body proportions perfectly fit the Fibonacci curve, creating an elegant posture. Large area of privacy glass and simple two-tone matching present a harmonious visual beauty. L380 draws on the essence of a cheetah, with the lower body lines slightly retracted, tight and powerful, showing dynamism and spirituality.
The new car is equipped with dual electric sliding doors and features a hidden door handle design, providing passengers with a sense of luxury and reducing wind resistance. The dimensions of the LEVC L380 are 5316/1998/1940mm, with a wheelbase of 3185mm, making it a standard large MPV. According to preliminary information, the LEVC L380 will be equipped with four wheel styles. The test drive model has a multi-spoke wheel design, paired with 235/60 R18 Pirelli Scorpion series tires.
The rear of the LEVC L380 features a traditional MPV square shape, with the most eye-catching design being the integrated taillights that light up in a fan-shaped pattern, inspired by the beauty of a peacock’s feathers opening. This design adds an artistic touch to the rear of the vehicle. Luxurious feel, leading technology.
Entering the car, the wrap-around layout adds depth to the interior, while the large soft materials enhance the luxurious feel. The floating central screen on the center console features the Flyme Auto system, running smoothly. The yacht-style secondary instrument panel provides passengers with a wide view.
The interior features exquisite materials, with the headliner and pillars covered in luxurious ALCANTARA fabric. The chrome accents and crystal knobs add luxury to the smallest details.
In addition, the interior of the L380 incorporates a large number of elements from both Chinese and Western cultures, such as the Chinese-style “ruyi” shaped air vents and the design inspired by the London Tower Bridge, demonstrating the brand’s integration and innovation of Eastern and Western cultures.
In terms of intelligent configuration, with the support of the Flyme Auto cockpit system, it supports sharing navigation and video information, achieving eight-screen linkage. Flyme Link breaks through boundaries to seamlessly connect mobile applications, integrating phones and car machines for a full-scene immersive experience. The voice system supports six sound zone recognition, custom wake-up words, and continuous conversation after one wake-up.
Furthermore, the application of the SenseTime AI large model has equipped the L380 with unique functions such as health monitoring, intelligent interaction, and personalized travel customization, showcasing powerful technological strength. Four, luxurious comfort, versatile space.
Following the user-centered concept, the L380 designer fully considers passenger comfort and convenience. The design of the fully independent cabin air seats provides passengers with a first-class comfortable experience. The seats are made of top-grade semi-aniline leather, with a delicate and soft touch, providing excellent seating comfort. At the same time, the seats are also equipped with heating, ventilation, massage, and other functions, allowing passengers to enjoy luxury and comfort during the journey.
The new car is built on the space-oriented architecture SOA platform to support various seat layout combinations to meet diverse user needs. The effective length of the car interior reaches 3974mm with a high cabin rate of 75%, leading among similar models in the same class.
The second and third rows of space are spacious and can be adjusted through seat adjustments to meet the space needs in different scenarios. In addition, the new car is equipped with a 1.9-meter integrated infinite slide rail to facilitate passengers in adjusting seat positions, further enhancing the flexibility and practicality of the space.
In addition to the feature-rich and highly comfortable seats, the front seats are equipped with two small table versions and two independent Pad entertainment screens for the second-row passengers, along with a 2.18 square meter panoramic sunroof, creating a pleasant in-car environment for passengers. While working or enjoying multimedia entertainment in the car, passengers can also admire the beautiful scenery outside through the sunroof.
In addition, the active intelligent air conditioning system can automatically adjust the direction and volume of the air outlet according to the temperature inside the car, achieving equal air conditioning for all three rows. The practical configurations such as intelligent cold and warm refrigerator and multiple charging interfaces also provide great convenience for passengers. Strong power, precise tuning In terms of power and battery life, the LEVC L380 single motor version has a maximum power of 200kW and a maximum torque of 343N·m, while the four-wheel drive dual motor version has a maximum power of 400kW and a maximum torque of 686N·m. The official statement indicates that the four-wheel drive dual motor version can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
The new car uses NCM battery system technology from CATL to provide two battery capacities of 116kWh and 140kWh, with a range of 650km and 800km respectively. The fast charging mode allows the car to be charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, enhancing user convenience.
Driving the vehicle in the starting phase, the LEVC L380 performs smoothly and quickly. The dual permanent magnet synchronous motors provide ample power output, eliminating concerns about insufficient power. The motor operates at an efficiency of up to 97.86%, showcasing the vehicle’s energy-saving characteristics from the start.
If you need to overtake, the L380’s acceleration and handling make it easy. The vehicle quickly speeds up while maintaining a stable trajectory, ensuring safety and stability during overtaking.
L380 has two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, which can be switched according to different road conditions and driving needs. During the test drive, we experienced rainy mountain road conditions and felt the vehicle’s four-wheel drive system providing extra traction when cornering, ensuring stability and passability on complex roads.
The official announced that the new car’s 100-0km/h braking distance of 35.98m is excellent compared to similar models. In actual experience, the L380’s braking system can indeed reduce the vehicle speed to a safe range in a very short time, even providing a smooth braking feel on wet roads.
The chassis design of L380 is carefully optimized, integrating leading technologies such as front double ball joint MacPherson suspension, rear high-load multi-link suspension, CDC continuous adjustable damping shock absorbers, etc. These technologies enable L380 to provide excellent handling and comfort during driving, allowing drivers to enjoy a stable and pleasant driving experience.
It is worth mentioning that the new car offers multiple driving modes. In each mode, the motor output varies, but the regenerative braking remains very linear. Releasing the accelerator pedal does not cause sudden deceleration.
The steering system of the new car quickly responds to the driver’s steering wheel movements, creating a contrast with the vehicle’s dignified and stable appearance. The accuracy and stability of the steering system are excellent for a large-size MPV model, allowing the driver to easily control the vehicle even during sharp turns or U-turns with superior stability.
The quiet cabin benefits from multiple soundproofing measures, including soundproof glass, materials, and technology, effectively reducing noise during driving. Opening the YAMAHA-tuned audio system further enhances the auditory experience inside the vehicle.
Summary: After a day of test driving, the L380 has innovative design, luxurious interior, and flexible layout to meet consumer demand for high-end MPVs. However, it faces fierce competition from traditional and new energy brands. Therefore, LEVC needs to increase brand promotion, improve brand recognition and reputation, optimize product performance and service experience, and attract more consumer attention. For example, strengthening the application of advanced technologies such as OTA for connected cars and smart driving, providing more thoughtful after-sales service, launching customized models or services for different consumer groups, enhancing cooperation with technology companies, and expanding brand influence through cross-industry partnerships. With strong product strength, competitive pricing, and differentiated strategies, L380 can gain more consumer favor.
