Familiar yet different, my first impression of the Deep Blue S07. Deep Blue, representing Changan Automobile’s transition to new energy vehicles. The sedan Deep Blue SL03, SUV Deep Blue S7, and Deep Blue G318 all have a good reputation among consumers. With more brands entering the smart car race, Deep Blue, with its strong technical background, partnered with Huawei to launch the Deep Blue S07 in July. The new car is equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving system, upgrading its intelligent driving assistance significantly. The new car is renamed Deep Blue S07, following the naming convention of Deep Blue products.
The appearance changes little but still full of vitality. Although the new model S07 has some differences in appearance compared to the previous S7, it still continues the design elements of the Deep Blue brand. The vehicle’s tough exterior design is full of vitality and more in line with the aesthetic preferences of young users nowadays. Compared to models with a more rounded appearance, it looks cleaner and more neat.
The front end design is full, with a closed grille that matches its new energy properties. The angular front face, along with the moving LED daytime running lights, gives the car a more sporty look. The lower grille on both sides features external interactive functions. The intelligent interactive lights have up to 696 LED light sources, customizable light effects editing function, and projection interaction, allowing for pedestrian yielding, driving status reminders, special scene animations, and other effects. Users can customize the light language, enhancing personalization and playability, while also increasing the vehicle’s technological appeal.
The S07 has a comfortable body proportion, thanks to its high width ratio of 0.842 and high length ratio of 0.342. The design of long wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs gives the S07 a body posture close to the golden ratio of 0.618. Additionally, this car offers hidden door handles and frameless doors, with a drag coefficient of 0.258Cd, which helps with energy consumption and wind noise control.
Vehicles still offer a variety of youthful and energetic exterior colors, including Starry Black and Cold Star White, as well as Fiery Cloud Orange, Extreme Universe Yellow, Starry Nebula Green, and Star Blue, all of which are currently popular color schemes. The newly added firefly breathing light on the D-pillar can breathe and flash with the charging and discharging state. In addition to having indicator function, it also highlights the sense of the future.
The wide shoulder design gives the Deep Blue S07 a strong low-slung look from the rear. The taillights and hexagonal high-mounted brake lights are distinctive, with rich Deep Blue brand design elements. Other than that, the rear of the vehicle has hardly changed, with the badge changing from S7 to S07.
The wheel hub design varies on different configurations, but the new style is focused on sporty and aerodynamic design, which complements the overall look of the vehicle. The tires on the actual model are from the Dunlop Sport series, with a size of 255/45R20.
Cockpit: Luxury and Technology All for You Compared to the exterior, the design of the cockpit is more challenging. For today’s users, luxury and technology are essential elements, and the Deep Blue S07 delivers both. Starting with colors, the new car offers a wide range of choices. In addition to the conventional Obsidian Black, there are also Stardust Green and Heatwave Orange. These unique color combinations are sure to appeal to younger users, but embracing these two colors also requires courage.
In terms of design, the yacht-style environmental design concept is no different from its predecessor, with a simple and stylish visual feel. The interior workmanship and materials are absolutely top-notch in the same class, with almost every touchable surface wrapped in soft, skin-friendly materials, excellent texture. The cabin also offers 64 colors of ambient lighting and faux carbon fiber trim, providing a great driving atmosphere at night.
The S07 in Blue provides a 12.3-inch entertainment screen on the passenger sun visor, which can be folded up and down for hiding. The passenger can control it separately. Click on the “TV” icon on the central screen to link with the passenger’s zero-gravity seat for a one-touch viewing mode.
The central control screen features a 15.6-inch narrow bezel “sunflower” screen with clear and vivid display. The screen can be adjusted 15° to the left or right, or set to the front view angle for easy viewing by the driver and passenger. The car system is equipped with Deepal OS intelligent operating system and 8155 chip. The system UI interface is simple and clear, with editable components below the screen. Sliding down the screen brings up the APP menu, while sliding to the right brings up commonly used car control functions, with clear division of functional areas.
The biggest highlight of the Deep Blue S07 is the Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving system, comparable to Tesla’s main visual solution, with more scene applicability, fine scene obstacle avoidance capability, leading corner passing ability, and nationwide applicable NCA intelligent driving navigation assistance. It can quickly start on and off ramps, handle high-speed to urban fast road conditions with ease; low-speed intelligent avoidance of construction, smoothly navigate curves, automatically adjust speed limits, control ramps like an experienced driver, thanks to Huawei’s self-developed parking control algorithm, integrating intelligent modeling, precise perception, and custom parking into one, flexibly adapting to complex environments and special parking spaces, and providing bidirectional parking in and out options, allowing users to enjoy a relaxed and convenient all-scenario parking experience.
In terms of comfort, the Deep Blue S07 front seats all support zero gravity function, ventilation, heating, and massage, making them very comfortable. The back seat backrest is at a moderate angle, and the length of the seat and backrest are ergonomically designed. There is a small screen in the front of the back seat, where you can control functions such as rear air conditioning, moving the front passenger seat, and opening the sunshade.
The car is equipped with 14 high-quality speakers + external amplifier, which can achieve various audiovisual modes such as concert hall, theater mode, etc. Enjoy a 360° surround sound experience, the driver’s headrest audio supports private, driver, and shared mode switching. Enjoy navigation or answer calls privately without being disturbed, or share a music journey with the co-driver.
In terms of space, the Deep Blue S07 performs very well. A tester with a height of 180cm found the rear seating position to be comfortable, with ample leg and headroom. The flat rear floor design, combined with spacious rear seats, ensures even the middle passenger feels comfortable. The foldable rear seat backs further increase the trunk space significantly.
In terms of power, the version filmed this time is the extended-range version, with a pure electric version also available for users to choose from, and this car is also expected to be equipped with 3C fast charging.
