In the Chery SUV family, the Tiggo 8 is a best-seller, loved by consumers worldwide for its balanced product power. With a large family including the Tiggo 8, Tiggo 8 Pro, and Tiggo 8 Plus, they all have excellent sales performance in the segmented market. Today, a new member joins the Tiggo 8 family, the Tiggo 8L, positioned as a flagship 5+2 family SUV to further strengthen its market position in the sub-200,000 RMB mid-size SUV segment. Let’s take a look at the performance of this flagship in the Tiggo 8 family through a static experience.
In terms of appearance, the overall outline of the Tiggo 8L continues the design style of the Tiggo 8 family, with smooth and tough lines. The new car features a new polygonal large mouth intake grille and a dot matrix design on the inside, giving it a more stylish look.
The internal structure of the headlight has been adjusted, featuring a three-segment LED daytime running light design. Combined with the exaggerated air intake openings on both sides of the bumper, it looks very sharp.
It is worth mentioning that vertical stripes are equipped with width lamps on both sides of the bumper, which light up to give the front of the car a more technological look, further enhancing the vehicle’s recognition and the product positioning of the flagship of the Ruihu 8 family.
From the side, the new car retains the smooth and coordinated design style of the Tiggo 8 series, with a flat roof for better headroom and a sleek waistline design to add depth to the car’s side.

In terms of details, the Tiggo 8L adopts a dual-side dual exhaust layout, with rectangular chrome exhaust pipes, effectively enhancing the overall youthful atmosphere of the vehicle.
In terms of interior, the new car adopts a minimalist design style, which looks very similar to Fengyun T9. There are almost no physical buttons inside the car, with more functions integrated into the 15.6-inch central control screen. The new car will use a gear-shifting method, leaving more space for the central aisle.
In terms of luxury texture, the center console and door panels are wrapped in soft leather, providing a delicate touch. The center console is decorated with diagonal textured panels, and the seat adjustment buttons are wrapped in silver. The dual-tone interior color scheme creates a strong sense of home. The multi-colored ambient lights further enhance the luxurious atmosphere of the interior.
The flat-bottomed steering wheel features a two-tone design and offers excellent tactile feedback.

In terms of configuration, the car is equipped with 50W wireless fast charging for phones, 540° panoramic imaging, and SONY speakers.
The front seats of the Roewe i5L feature ergonomic design, improved materials and styling. The soft padding allows for a comfortable driving position and comes with a headrest audio system.
The backrest angle and seat length of the rear seats are very suitable for Chinese users. The seat length is sufficient, and the seating position is low, making the overall ride comfort very good. The Tiggo 8L offers both 5-seat and 7-seat layouts, but for this size of vehicle, the third row is only for emergency use.
In terms of interior space, we tested the 5-seater version. At 1.9 meters tall, I adjusted the driving position. The rear head and legroom are very spacious. The headroom has a clearance of 2 fists, which is satisfactory.
The trunk in 5-seat mode is very spacious and easy to access. When the second row seats are folded down, the trunk can create a space of over 2000L, making it suitable for camping or carrying large items.
In addition, there is a spacious hidden storage compartment under the trunk cover, suitable for storing items not frequently used. The trunk is also equipped with two-way and three-way power outlets, making it convenient to connect external car electronics during long road trips, which is very practical.
In terms of power, the Tiggo 8L will be equipped with the Kunpeng Power 2.0T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 254 horsepower and a maximum torque of 390 Nm. In terms of transmission, the new car will be equipped with Chery’s self-developed Fuzhen 8AT gearbox. The four-wheel drive models will also be equipped with the full-scene intelligent control four-wheel drive system, providing 3 driving modes and 4 off-road modes.
After the static experience, we also briefly experienced the dynamic performance of the Tiggo 8L on internal roads. Let’s talk about our initial impressions. Firstly, in terms of the powertrain, due to the internal roads, the vehicle speed was kept below 30km/h. We mainly experienced the starting and shifting performance between gears 1-3. We have to say, the self-developed Fuzhen 8AT transmission left a very deep impression on me. The starting is smooth, and the shifting between the most difficult gears 1-3 is also very smooth, which is commendable.
And the chassis performance is also noteworthy, able to filter bumps well when going over rough roads or road seams, providing a comfortable ride with minimal vibrations felt inside the vehicle.
Summary Overall, the static performance of the Ruihu 8L is quite surprising. As a main household model, the new car is very balanced in terms of space, comfort, and quality. After the new car is launched, it will form a complete product lineup in the 100,000-200,000 SUV market with the Ruihu 8, Ruihu 8 Pro, and Ruihu 8 Plus.
