Chery Fengyun brand has launched many models since last year. Today, we will test drive its flagship product, the Fengyun T10 SUV. This car combines many technologies of the brand and will be available in 5-seater and 6-seater versions, as well as 2WD and 4WD models, providing more choices for consumers.
The T10 will continue to use a family-style design, with the most recognizable front end being the bumper, which does not use a traditional grille but instead features a waterfall-style air vent that increases airflow and reduces drag. The logo on the front is designed flat with chrome accents, adding a touch of luxury to the vehicle.
Although it is a flagship model, the side air vents are still retained on both sides of the front bumper, which is more in line with the aesthetic needs of the Chinese people. The headlight unit does not adopt a through-style design, but retains a traditional shape. The chrome trim in the middle perfectly connects the two headlights together, creating a strong overall feeling.
The new car measures 4850x1930x1712mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2820mm, classified as a midsize SUV. The overall profile is bold, featuring a floating roof and concealed door handles.
The new car will use 20-inch dual-color multi-spoke tornado-style wheel hub design, paired with 245/50 R20 tires, ensuring both off-road capability and vehicle comfort. As a new energy vehicle model, the wheel hub of the T10 also incorporates many low-drag designs to minimize the effects of wind resistance.
The design of the rear end also has a family flavor, the tail lights use red and black decoration, and the English logo is placed in the tail lights, which is more in line with the aesthetic needs of the Chinese people. The design of the rear bumper is also very layered, although the exhaust is hidden, the black decorative strip on the rear bumper still adds a lot of sporty atmosphere.
The interior design of the T10 truly embodies the look of a flagship SUV. There are multiple color options available, including the purple interior we tested and a light interior to meet different consumer needs. Most physical buttons have been removed from the cabin, with only a few shortcut buttons remaining.
The steering wheel features a flat-bottomed design, with multifunction buttons integrated seamlessly into the panel. The overall sense of technology and luxury is well executed. The multifunction buttons are user-friendly, allowing for easy operation even without looking.
The new car will feature a dual 12.3-inch screen design with a curved shape, giving a strong sense of luxury. The LCD instrument panel has multiple display modes, including map navigation mode, making it convenient for drivers to observe.
The central control screen will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 automotive-grade chip, providing excellent overall processing speed. It includes online navigation, entertainment, smartphone connectivity, voice interaction, OTA upgrades, and comprehensive voice control functions with high recognition rates.
The vehicle’s intelligent driving control and vehicle settings are placed on the screen, and the UI design of the entire system is very reasonable and easy to use. The air conditioning system and seat controls are integrated on the screen, making the overall display clear.
Compared to other midsize SUVs, I really like the air vents in the T10, especially the three in the middle with a cross-shaped design. They look premium and feel nice to operate. The heavy texture fits well with its flagship SUV status.
Because of the use of a dial gear shift, the space in the center console has been freed up. Here, a wireless charging pad for phones is provided, and the cup holder in the back has a cover. At the bottom, there are a few buttons, with a dial in the middle for selecting driving modes quickly. The buttons on the side are for seat heating, front and rear defrost, and driving mode selection, making it very practical.
The T10 will launch 5-seater and 6-seater models. Today we test drove the 5-seater model. The front seats are well wrapped and come with heating, ventilation, and memory functions. In addition, the passenger seat has a leg rest for a comfortable driving experience.
The second row seats of the 5-seater model have seat heating function, providing high comfort, with ample legroom and headroom. The 6-seater model’s second row seats feature two independent seats with electric adjustment, seat heating, ventilation, massage, memory functions. The aisle in the middle is spacious for easy access for third-row passengers.
The T10 will still be equipped with Chery’s Kunpeng power, with a maximum power of 280kW and a maximum torque of 610N·m for the two-wheel drive version; for the four-wheel drive version, the maximum power of the system reaches 455kW, with a maximum torque of 960N·m, and it has a range of 200km in pure electric mode and a comprehensive range of 1800km.
The car we test drove today is the two-wheel drive model. Although not as impressive as the four-wheel drive model, this power combination is sufficient for daily use. Even in economy mode, the vehicle still provides strong power output performance. There is no hesitation at the start, especially in hybrid mode where electric drive is more direct than fuel drive.
And when we use the sport mode, the vehicle accelerates significantly without feeling abrupt. The process is comfortable, and the speed increases smoothly. Even during mid-to-late acceleration, the vehicle does not feel weak.
This car will be equipped with CDC magnetic suspension, which will adjust the suspension damping in real time according to the road conditions. When encountering continuous bumps or speed bumps, the suspension can quickly adapt to adjust, allowing for the most comfortable damping to pass through obstacles and block more impacts and vibrations outside the car. We can enjoy a more comfortable driving environment inside the car.
When driving on mountain roads or quickly through bends, the suspension provides strong support, even when making S-turns on closed roads, the vehicle does not lean too much. Both front and rear passengers can sit comfortably in their seats without swaying from side to side.
In terms of quietness, the performance of the T10 is very satisfying. Both the front and rear cabins are quiet, even when driving over 100km/h, there is minimal wind and tire noise. Normal conversation can be held inside the car.
Despite being a large SUV, the vehicle is light and agile to operate. It can easily make U-turns on dual carriageways, thanks to its excellent visibility, allowing us to observe the road ahead and boosting our driving confidence.
Summary: At present, the T10 has not officially announced its price, but according to sources, it should start at less than 200,000 yuan (27520$). This is something that Chery’s “engineer” can achieve. It will offer more and better to consumers. So, are you looking forward to this flagship, luxury, mid-sized SUV?
