Wuling unveils new SUV – Wuling Starlight S with safety features like body and battery. The new car will have Shenlian batteries and ultra-safe body structure. In terms of power, the new car will offer pure electric and plug-in hybrid power systems. It is reported that the new car will officially go on sale in August.
In terms of body structure, Wuling Rongguang S adopts a six-ring high-strength steel body structure, and the multi-ring skeleton enhances the body rigidity, making the whole vehicle resistant to deformation and helping to improve the overall NVH performance. The new car body uses industry-leading 1200MPa ultra-high-strength steel cold stamping technology, with a high-strength steel coverage rate of over 82.5%. The vehicle has a total of 24 key positions using 1500MPa aerospace-grade hot-formed steel, distributed in various key collision positions throughout the vehicle to protect occupants and battery safety.
In addition, the new car comes standard with front and rear crash beams equipped with energy-absorbing boxes, made of aluminum alloy material up to 2.5mm thick, reducing harm to occupants and batteries, lowering maintenance costs.
In terms of battery safety, the new car is equipped with Wuling Shenlian battery, using industry-first top core technology, ‘non-flammable’ battery through multi-faceted optimization design, ensuring the battery does not short circuit, leak, lithium, or catch fire. Stable even when punctured, does not explode at high temperatures.
In terms of system security design, Shenlian Battery uses Wuling’s unique MUST multifunctional integrated battery pack, increasing battery structural strength by 60%, while also considering high integration and strength as well as detachable and maintainable batteries, effectively reducing maintenance costs.
At the same time, the battery box of Shenlian adopts the third generation of aviation-grade 1500MPa high-strength steel, with a coverage rate of over 83% of ultra-high-strength steel, a stable design structure of three transverse and six longitudinal, a tensile strength of 1200MPa ultra-high-strength steel bottom plate, enhancing the safety of the battery bottom. The multi-cavity structure roller steel design effectively absorbs impact force during collisions to protect the battery system.
In addition, the vehicle is equipped with Wuling’s self-developed intelligent battery management system (BMS), combined with cloud-based AI-BMS system, to achieve 24-hour cloud-based intelligent battery safety monitoring. Over 240 safety regulations, over 80 fault warnings, ensuring safety without delay.
