On July 19, FAW Toyota announced the official launch of the new generation Prado. The vehicle rolled off the assembly line at the FAW Toyota factory in Sichuan. The first batch of models will soon begin delivery. So far, the Chengdu base has produced and sold 700,000 vehicles. It has also surpassed 200 billion yuan in revenue. This base has become a key hub for FAW Toyota in the southwest.

With the launch of the new Prado, FAW Toyota announced the completion of the three-stage layout of “Toyota Intelligent Electric Hybrid Technology.” This marks the start of a new phase of electrification.

The all-new Prado uses the TNGA-F platform. It offers four models, priced between 459,800 and 549,800 yuan (75620$). The vehicle measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,910 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. The new design features a trendy boxy shape, which appears tougher than the previous generation. It offers two exterior designs: one with stylish square headlights and another with classic round headlights. The interior maintains Toyota’s focus on practicality. The center console includes many physical buttons, enhancing usability for daily driving and off-road adventures.

The new car features a full LCD instrument panel and a large multimedia screen. Basic smart interaction configurations meet daily needs. It also includes the T-Pilot smart driving assistance system. High-end models add a streaming rearview mirror, MTM multi-terrain selection monitoring system, MTS multi-terrain driving assistance device, and an onboard refrigerator.

The new Prado features an EPS electronic power steering system and an SDM electronic control stabilizer. These improve handling stability in off-road conditions and enhance ride comfort in urban settings. The four-wheel drive system includes a Torsen limited-slip central differential and an electronically controlled mechanical rear differential lock. This setup ensures excellent off-road capability.
