On August 5, smart officially announced that the new smart #5 will debut globally in Australia on August 28. This model is smart’s first mid-size SUV. It will also be the world’s first mass-produced car equipped with ByteDance’s self-developed “Doubao AI model.”
The new car features a bold and square design, echoing the concept car. It exudes a powerful presence. The Mercedes-Benz global design team boldly interprets the “Sensual Purity” design language. They inject forward-thinking, innovative, and playful design concepts.
The vehicle measures 4705 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1705 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2900 mm. This model is the largest smart vehicle to date. Its larger size and electric platform layout ensure ample interior space.
The smart #5 offers two power options: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel drive version has options of 250 kW and 267 kW. The all-wheel drive version includes systems of 432 kW and 475 kW. It can reach a top speed of 200 km/h. The smart #5 uses an 800V pure electric high-voltage platform. It supports 4C ultra-fast charging technology. In 15 minutes, it can charge to 70%.
Official news confirms that the new smart #5 will launch in Australia. The smart #1 and #3 will also debut there at the same time.
