Volkswagen is the third joint venture established by the Volkswagen Group in China. It previously focused on producing electric vehicles for the European market, specifically the Cupra Tavascan. The ID.UNYX serves as the first model aimed at domestic consumers. It can be seen as the “domestic version” of the Cupra Tavascan. The new car uses the MEB platform. The 2024 ID.UNYX launches three configurations. Prices range from 209,900 to 249,900 yuan (35020$). Although the prices align closely with two other Volkswagen models, clear differences exist in design and product positioning. Therefore, the competition among them is not intense.
The interior design features a clear and layered central console. Ambient lighting enhances the cabin’s atmosphere, appealing to young consumers’ aesthetics. The central screen tilts slightly towards the driver’s side. Below, air conditioning vents and a wireless charging pad sit in a simple, efficient layout. The car’s system runs on UNYX.OS, supporting Apple CarPlay, Baidu CarLife, and Huawei HiCar. It includes AI language models, 3D customization, and smart vehicle control, delivering strong overall performance. In terms of power, the ID.UNYX offers single and dual motor configurations. The single motor generates 170 kW. The dual motor reaches a total power of 250 kW. Both configurations use a ternary lithium battery from CATL, with a capacity of 82.4 kWh. The CLTC pure electric range stands at 621 km for the single motor and 565 km for the dual motor.
