The智己LS6 launched last October. It quickly gained popularity in its segment. It features laser radar and a nearly 900V dual silicon carbide platform. This combination impressed the market. It sparked intense competition among mid-to-high-end smart electric SUVs. In less than a year, the智己LS6 became a key model for the brand. After its launch, it frequently topped the sales charts in the mid-size electric SUV segment. This success highlights its product strength.
The new IM LS6 will launch on September 26. The car will feature more core technologies from the IM brand. It aims to provide greater value for those choosing the IM LS6. The new IM LS6 has slight changes in appearance. It adds a digital chassis, four-wheel steering, an 8295 chip, a 121-degree zero-gravity co-driver seat, and a Falcon lighting system.
The new IM LS6 has changes in size. The length increases by 6mm to 4910mm. The wheelbase increases by 10mm to 2960mm. Other dimensions remain the same. The front lip, side skirts, and tail light edges now feature black patterns. These patterns add detail.
The wheel size remains unchanged. It uses low rolling resistance tires in 20 and 21 inches.
The front design maintains the family style. The lower part adds the Falcon lighting system. It features a 165-degree wide-angle illumination range. It connects with the chassis, smart cockpit, and intelligent driving.
The system provides adaptive steering lights. It uses ghost headlight warnings to alert pedestrians with precise flashes. It illuminates intersections in complete darkness. It also assists with parking by providing extra lighting. Additionally, it links with rain night mode to enhance brightness.
The ISC smart taillights at the rear can create light language. They can display English, numbers, and animations. Users can customize them, but they must undergo a review. The review is conducted by the official Zhiji team. Only approved designs can display on the taillights.
Inside the car, the layout remains unchanged. New color options are available. You can choose between white and gray interiors. The overall design still reflects a soft, home-like style.
The car features POPO Sofa seats. Designers drew inspiration from Italian high-end sofas. The new model offers an optional 121-degree zero-gravity seat for the passenger side.
The static display model features a 121-degree zero-gravity seat. It is unclear if all models will have this seat or if it is exclusive to a specific configuration. The seat offers good comfort. Its back and thigh angle is 121 degrees. Users can enter zero-gravity mode with one button. They can also adjust the seat using voice commands. Once in zero-gravity mode, the seat massage activates automatically.
The new static display of the Zhiji LS6 features front seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The air conditioning ducts connect to the center armrest. Users can control the temperature inside the armrest with air conditioning cooling.
The new IM LS6 offers solid features. It includes 50-watt wireless fast charging. It has RNC active noise control. The rear seatback has adjustable angles.
The new IM LS6 features the IM MAG magnetic docking station. The car has five embedded locations.
The vehicle offers 27 storage spaces. It includes 2 hooks. The front trunk holds 32 liters. The rear trunk holds 665 liters. The rear seats fold down in a 60/40 split. This increases storage to 1,571 liters. The cover bottom provides an additional 69 liters.
The new IM LS6 features significant improvements in its smart cockpit. It now includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. An additional external speaker plays theme sounds. The rear link pad controls the car system, separating the trip from the link. In terms of car connectivity, it adds two brands: CarLife and HiCar. Apple CarPlay is not available yet due to hardware issues.
The new IM LS6 leads in smart driving. It features a single lidar and the OrinX chip with 254 TOPS of computing power. With IM AD’s advanced driving support, it enables full NOA, AVP valet parking, one-click parking release, and narrow road navigation.
The chassis represents a major change for the new Zhiji LS6. It features the same Lingxi digital chassis as the Zhiji L6. This chassis showcases the core technology of the Zhiji brand. The Lingxi digital chassis integrates four-wheel steering, air suspension, and electronic dampers. It manages the vehicle’s motion in all three dimensions—X, Y, and Z—through six degrees of freedom. This coordination enhances the vehicle’s dynamic performance. It provides stability, comfort, and quick responses to road conditions.
The Zhiji LS6 features smart four-wheel steering, just like the Zhiji L6. The rear wheels have a control range of 6 degrees. Currently, the Zhiji LS6 is the only mid-large SUV with this capability. At low speeds, it has a minimum turning radius of just 5.09 meters. At high speeds, the front and rear wheels steer in the same direction, ensuring a more stable vehicle posture.
The Zhiji LS6 features an air suspension. It has a maximum travel of 70mm. Drivers can adjust it to five levels. They can raise or lower the body based on speed. This improves ride quality. At high speeds, it reduces drag and energy consumption.
In intelligent electronic control of vibration reduction, the system predicts road conditions. It responds in milliseconds. When driving over manhole covers or bumps, advanced vibration filtering reduces minor shocks. Notably, the Zhiji LS6’s smart cloud platform interacts with NOA. When NOA activates, it anticipates upcoming ramps on highways, elevated roads, and on/off ramps. The system lowers the air springs in advance to reduce body roll. This significantly decreases the feeling of dizziness for passengers.
The Zhiji LS6 features a crab mode. Like the L6, it allows rear-wheel steering. This helps maneuver in narrow intersections, tight parking spaces, and underground garages. Drivers can control the vehicle more easily.
The highlights of the chassis include single-side slip stability control. On icy roads, the Lingxi digital chassis actively intervenes. The intelligent four-wheel steering system can correct the rear posture in real time. This reduces vehicle drift by about 80%. Additionally, in extreme corners or on tracks, the Lingxi digital chassis controls the rear wheel steering for parallel deflection. It applies braking force to the outside wheels to reduce lateral speed and tilt. This ensures that extreme maneuvers do not lead to rollover.
The Lingxi digital chassis offers features like single-wheel escape, hill descent control, and predictive rescue for the four-wheel drive version. However, I did not experience these during the static test. Sina Auto will provide a detailed analysis during the test drive of the new IM LS6.
The new Zhiji LS6 maintains its powertrain. It uses a 379kW quasi-900V high-performance silicon carbide motor. A 200kW front motor complements it. Together, they deliver a total system power of 579kW. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.48 seconds. It also offers an impressive range of over 800 km on the CLTC cycle.
The new Zhiji LS6 offers a maximum charging power of 396 kW. It adds 579 km of range in just 15 minutes.
The new Zhiji LS6 shows significant hardware improvements. The chassis alone adds considerable cost. The official price remains competitive in the 200,000 yuan (28070$) range. The LS6 features three core technologies in the race for intelligent digital chassis, chips, and systems. The event showcased more software innovations, but these are not yet confirmed for production. This indicates strong potential for future expansion. The LS6 stands as a strong competitor in the mid-large intelligent electric SUV market. The vehicle plans to launch in late September. Sina Auto will provide ongoing coverage.
