When talking about GT models, which one comes to mind first? For me, it’s the Tengshi Z9 GT. We saw its exterior at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. However, we haven’t deeply experienced its interior, driving feel, or tech features. Today, we will test drive the Tengshi Z9 GT and see how it performs in these areas.
The Tengshi Z9GT will launch two models: a pure electric version and a plug-in hybrid version. Both will feature three electric motors. The front motor drives the front wheels. Two independent motors will control the rear wheels. This setup improves power output. It also enables independent control and steering of the rear wheels.
The pure electric model delivers a maximum power of 710 kW and a maximum torque of 1150 N·m. The hybrid model we test today offers 640 kW of power and 1035 N·m of torque. After we use the sport mode, the vehicle’s power output changes significantly. The entire power system delivers strong performance, whether at the start or during acceleration. We also test drove the pure electric model. Its thousand horsepower lives up to the hype. The thrust is intense. It feels like being pushed back into the seat.
The Denza Z9GT features the Yun Nian-A intelligent air body control system. We can adjust the suspension height and damping through the central control screen. The vehicle automatically adjusts based on road conditions and driving scenarios. During rapid acceleration, braking, or high-speed turns, the suspension can adjust its stiffness in multiple stages. This ensures comfort for passengers.
The Tengshi Z9GT excels in quietness. It uses double-layer laminated glass to effectively control wind and tire noise outside the car. The engine noise control is also impressive. Even at a speed of 140 km/h in a professional testing environment, we did not hear any engine noise.
The car will feature L2+ level smart driving assistance. It includes lane keeping, lane centering, lane departure warning, and front collision warning. The car will also have the NOA navigation function. This function includes highway navigation and city navigation. It will launch nationwide by the end of the year. As long as there is a road, we can use the navigation feature.
In addition to our routine tests, we will now explore the advanced technology of the Tengshi Z9GT. This car features the Yisanfang platform. This technology independently controls the rear wheel’s steering, speed, and torque. With a three-motor layout, the car achieves independent steering for the rear wheels. The rear wheels can turn up to ±10°. They can steer in the same direction or achieve an “inner eight” angle. This versatility applies to various driving scenarios.
When facing a dead end, drivers want to turn around. They must make several maneuvers. They also need to find the right angle. This wastes time and increases the risk of collisions. However, the Tengshi Z9GT, equipped with Yisanfang, can perform a “compass turn.” Its rear wheels angle inward. The rear motor controls each wheel independently. This allows for a precise turn in place.
This car measures over 5.1 meters in length. For a typical D-class sedan, a minimum turning radius of over 6 meters is necessary. In complex terrains, drivers may need to maneuver multiple times. However, the Denza Z9GT, equipped with Yisanfang technology, claims a minimum turning radius of only 4.62 meters. This distance is even smaller than the car’s length. The rear motor controls the steering angle, allowing it to turn at an angle opposite to the front wheels. This enables an ultra-tight turn.
Besides U-turns, the Tengshi Z9GT offers a simpler parking method with the support of the Easy Three platform. When we want to park in a dead-end road or a tight spot, we can activate the car’s automatic parking. The vehicle identifies the parking space and moves directly into it. Then, it shifts the rear to align perfectly in the space. This method saves time and looks impressive in any parking lot.
The Tengshi Z9GT supports a 15° smart crab walk. This feature is rare in its class and price range. It excels in narrow passages. This technology enhances maneuverability significantly.
Besides driving control, people also focus on interior design and technology. The Tengshi Z9GT features a dual-ring cockpit layout. It offers dark and light interior color options. The materials are high-quality. The extensive soft-touch materials and suede ceiling enhance the vehicle’s luxury feel.
The car features advanced technology. It has five screens in the interior. These include a 13.2-inch LCD instrument panel, a 17.3-inch central control screen, a 13.2-inch passenger entertainment screen, and a rear central control screen. Additionally, buyers can opt for external electronic rearview mirrors. With this option, the total number of screens increases to seven. The abundance of technology captivates users.
The steering wheel feels great. The multifunction buttons use physical keys and include Chinese. This makes it easy for consumers to operate. The 13.2-inch display shows many driving details. Navigation info can appear in a small or full-screen format. The technology feels advanced.
The 17.3-inch central control screen will feature BYD’s DiLink operating system. The operation runs smoothly. The screen clarity is excellent. The UI design of the car system shows user-friendliness. Common functions sit at the bottom of the screen for quick access and control.
The car system supports online navigation, online entertainment, phone connectivity, OTA upgrades, and voice interaction. It is convenient to use. Users can operate smart driving options, charging functions, air conditioning, and seat settings through the screen. The passenger entertainment screen allows music selection, video app usage, and navigation settings. It displays independently and does not obstruct the driver’s view of the central screen.
The Tengshi Z9GT features a dual-layer central channel layout. The upper section includes dual 50W wireless fast charging for phones. The newly designed crystal gear lever looks impressive and feels great. Behind the gear lever, a few physical buttons sit. They also use a crystal knob design, complementing the gear lever well.
This car features a standout configuration: a refrigerator. Some might say many cars have refrigerators now. So, what makes the Tengshi Z9GT’s refrigerator special? The answer is simple. This car includes dual refrigerators, one in the front and one in the back. The front refrigerator has a capacity of 4L. The rear refrigerator offers 10L of space. Both refrigerators can cool to -6℃ and heat to 50℃. Drivers can control the refrigerator’s switch and temperature settings through the central control screen.
The Tengshi Z9GT showcases luxury in its seats. The front seats offer electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. They provide excellent support and comfort. The passenger seat features a one-touch zero-gravity mode. With one click, you can enjoy a relaxing journey.
As a GT model, this car offers impressive rear space. It provides ample legroom. A person 1.8 meters tall sits comfortably with nearly three fists of legroom. Headroom measures about one fist. The rear seats support electric adjustment, heating, and ventilation. Each seat features a makeup mirror for convenience.
