Car Sales Surge During Golden Week: New Energy Vehicles Lead the Market

On October 8, Blue Whale News reported that during the recent “Golden Week,” the car market thrived. Many car companies received a flood of orders. Blue Whale News analyzed official and third-party data. They found that new energy vehicle companies like Hongmeng Zhixing, Leap Motor, Deep Blue, Xiaopeng, and Li Auto received over ten thousand orders during the seven-day National Day holiday. Some companies nearly matched their previous month’s delivery volume in just seven days. “This National Day saw a surge in both new energy and traditional brand sales,” said Sun Shaojun from the third-party research firm Che FANS. During the holiday, Mercedes-Benz received about 20,000 new orders, BMW around 18,000, and Lexus six to seven thousand. “Thanks to substantial bonuses from Mercedes and BMW to their channels, morale has stabilized.” The booming end-market and strong overall market performance also influenced A-share automotive stocks. On the first trading day after the holiday, they collectively rose. According to Wind data, by the close on the 8th, companies like JAC Motors hit their daily limit, while others like Seres, Lifan Technology, BYD, and Great Wall Motors saw increases of over 5%.

A well-known automotive blogger discussed whether to buy a car or stocks in a bull market. They cited opinions suggesting, “It’s not a good time to buy a car. Invest that money in the stock market. You might afford a better car later.” This viewpoint sparked heated debates. Some users agreed, saying, “Trade a bike for a motorcycle, or a motorcycle for a car, or change a down payment to a full payment.” Others joked, “If you wait too long, you might not need to buy at all.” Blue Whale News will continue to monitor the automotive market and stock trends. Regarding specific sales, on October 8, Blue Whale News learned from Huawei that as of October 7 at 6 PM, the HarmonyOS vehicle series surpassed 28,600 pre-orders during the National Day holiday. The pre-orders for the ZhiJie R7, Wenjie M9, and Wenjie M7 exceeded 9,600, 7,800, and 9,000, respectively. “Thank you to the car owners for their support and trust,” said Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director and Chairman of the Terminal BG, on October 8. He noted that besides the strong sales of the Wenjie M7 and M9, the R7 also gained traction. “Building a new brand is very challenging. The ZhiJie brand rises with the R7.” Lei Jun, founder and chairman of Xiaomi Group, also posted on social media. He announced that the Xiaomi SU7 locked over 6,000 orders during the National Day holiday. The goal for October is to produce and deliver 20,000 units. He mentioned during a livestream on October 1 that Xiaomi cars added over 4,000 new locked orders each week since September. The delivery schedule now extends to February next year. Besides Yu Chengdong and Lei Jun, Zhu Jiangming, Chairman of Leap Motor, expressed excitement as well. “On the last day of the National Day holiday, Leap Motor’s sales hit a new high. We secured over 17,000 pre-orders during the seven-day holiday.” On the night of October 7, Zhu Jiangming shared the National Day holiday order data in his social media circle. According to the backend data he provided, the order volume for Zero Run cars reached 3,576 units that day. In the past seven days, the total order volume hit 17,397 units.
