On November 2, the BMW M Carnival took place at the Chengdu Tianfu Circuit. This event returned after five years. The new BMW M5 and BMW M 1000 XR motorcycle launched at the carnival. The new BMW M235L four-door coupe also made its global debut.
BMW announces 2024 as a big year for the M brand. This year, the M brand will launch 10 new high-performance cars for the Chinese market. By the end of the year, the total number of models in China will reach 23. In the past five years, M brand sales in China grew 3.5 times. Last year, sales increased by 46% year-on-year. The average age of BMW M fans in China is under 32, with over 50% being post-90s.
Gao Xiang, President and CEO of BMW Group Greater China, stated that BMW M serves as the brand’s innovation incubator. Every BMW carries the soul of an M. BMW M relentlessly pursues driving pleasure, past, present, and future. The new BMW M5 launched during this event has an official price of 1.4689 million yuan. It features high-performance hybrid technology from the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. The new BMW M5 achieves a maximum output of 535 kW and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm, enhanced by 250 Nm.
The new BMW M5 offers five driving modes. It expands from the previous generation’s three modes. The modes include HYBRID, ELECTRIC, eCONTROL, and two new options: “Dynamic” and “Dynamic PLUS.”
BMW announced that M performance cars will launch electric models in the future. The next-generation BMW M3 will offer both a gasoline version and a pure electric version. The electric model will feature four motors and an integrated driving dynamic control system. The M brand will cover almost all market segments in China.
