Ruihu 7 High Energy Version / Ruihu 7 C-DM
The new Chery Tiggo 7 High Energy version stands out. Though it launches alongside another model, it attracts more attention. At first glance, you might exclaim, “Isn’t that a Land Rover?” The front end closely resembles the Range Rover Evoque. The Tiggo 7 High Energy comes in two versions: a gasoline model and a plug-in hybrid. The Evoque-inspired front is featured on the Tiggo 7 C-DM version. You can still see hints of the Chery family design. It shares a higher similarity with the Explorer 06. The grille adopts the “Tiger Leap Front” design. It features a honeycomb blackened air intake and an exclusive “N” badge. The split headlight design, sturdy body lines, classic split roof, and rugged wheel arches give it a powerful presence. It exudes confidence, rivaling Land Rover.
The new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro High Energy Edition offers two power versions. Both versions have a wheelbase of 2672 millimeters. They feature a wide-body design. Although classified as a compact SUV, the interior space rivals that of a mid-size SUV.
The interior impresses with its design. The cabin looks simple and comfortable. A 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel pairs with a 15-inch central touchscreen. It exudes technology. It also features the latest “Lion” intelligent driving assistance system, providing L2-level autonomous driving. The door handles and air vents enhance the rugged style. A panoramic sunroof and electric tailgate add luxury. This SUV feels like a mobile luxury vehicle. For power, it offers both plug-in hybrid and gasoline versions. The plug-in hybrid combines a 1.5T engine with an electric motor. The 1.5T engine delivers a maximum power of 115kW. The energy storage uses lithium iron phosphate batteries. The fuel consumption is rated at 1.27L/100km. The gasoline version features a 1.6T engine with a maximum power of 145kW. It pairs with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The new Chery Tiggo 7 High Energy Edition features a unique all-scenario intelligent control four-wheel drive. It offers seven driving modes. It performs the moose test at over 80 km/h, comparable to the Audi Q5. The four-wheel drive engages in just 0.1 seconds, ensuring a quick response. It can handle water depths of 605 mm, while typical city SUVs manage only 300-400 mm. This vehicle matches the capabilities of Land Rover. Most importantly, it boasts the lowest fuel consumption in its class, with four-wheel drive consuming only 7.48L. As Chery’s Li Xueyong puts it, “It’s a powerful four-wheel drive and a smart one.” With the new car’s pricing, the cost of a two-wheel drive matches that of a four-wheel drive.
The two models released meet Chery’s highest standards. They exceed national safety standards significantly. Li Xueyong highlighted this at the event. He stated that regulations are just the industry’s baseline. Chery’s pursuit of safety has no limits. Crash tests, water immersion tests, and side impact tests all surpass regulatory standards. These models are the first “Chinese five-star” under Australia’s new ANCAP standards. With such a low price and high configuration, they are true “value monsters.” However, as new models, many aspects remain unknown. For example, how does the actual driving experience feel? Do durability and reliability meet expectations? Time will reveal these answers. Given Chery’s years of experience and technological expertise, we believe the refreshed Tiggo 7 series will perform well in the market.
