Recently, Volvo announced that its new electric model, the ES90, will debut on March 5 in Stockholm, Sweden. The new car will be a sedan. Based on its naming, it is expected to be positioned similarly to the Volvo S90 as a mid-large sedan.
The new car uses Volvo’s SPA2 architecture. It is the second model with Volvo’s Superset technology stack, following the EX90. In terms of technology, the ES90 will be the first model to feature dual NVIDIA™ DRIVE AGX Orin processors. It can perform about 5.08 trillion operations per second.
The Volvo ES90 features one lidar, five radars, eight cameras, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. It also includes the DUS driver perception system. This setup accurately senses the surrounding environment. It can detect obstacles in the dark. It activates active safety measures, such as the collision avoidance system.
