On March 3, Geely officially launched its unified intelligent driving solution, “Qianli Haohan.” Qianli Haohan is a safer intelligent driving system. Geely’s future Galaxy products and upgraded models will feature different levels of the advanced intelligent driving system. This will achieve equality in intelligent driving and safety.
Geely’s Qianli Haohan offers a unified smart travel solution through end-to-end AI technologies like VLM and world models. It provides a safer smart driving system. Qianli Haohan includes five levels of smart driving solutions: H1, H3, H5, H7, and H9. The minimum configuration features over 100 TOPS of computing power. The H9 is the industry’s first L3 smart driving solution with mass production capability. The experience features the new Geely Galaxy E8 equipped with the Qianli Haohan H1 smart driving system. Its smart driving chip reaches 116 TOPS. It supports high-precision map navigation for elevated and highway driving assistance. Let’s see how it performs.
The new Geely Galaxy E8 features a 126-line lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, and ten cameras. This test drive used the version without lidar, relying on vision for advanced intelligent driving. The experience showed quick acceleration when merging onto the highway, with no hesitation. The lane change process felt smooth.
The new Geely Galaxy E8 features high-speed NOA. It supports automatic lane changes and on/off ramp navigation at speeds from 0 to 150 km/h. The system identifies irregular vehicles and construction barriers.
The system prefers to maintain speed in the innermost lane. It only overtakes slower vehicles from the left or right lanes to ensure higher cruising efficiency. Users can change lanes by toggling the steering lever or using voice control. Overall, in “standard” mode, lane changes occur quickly and decisively. The system also provides good comfort and avoids aggression.
The system identifies trucks ahead, including flatbed trucks and cement mixers. When overtaking, it keeps a distance of about 20 cm from the truck. This reduces the feeling of pressure. It also detects accident vehicles without obvious features. The system recognizes construction barriers, such as traffic cones, crash barrels, and water-filled barriers. It works in low visibility at night and adjusts to light changes in tunnels. The system maintains braking capability at all times.
The new Geely Galaxy E8 features the advanced Qianli Haohan H1 intelligent driving system. It performs very well on highways, ranking among the best. It handles on- and off-ramps smoothly. The steering remains stable without any minor adjustments. However, it can only activate NOA on highways and connectors with high-precision maps. It follows a typical map-based intelligent driving approach.
In urban or suburban areas, drivers can activate the intelligent navigation feature. This includes ACC and lane keeping. However, it cannot yet handle unprotected left turns or stop at red lights, which are part of city NOA functions. There’s no need to rush. After future OTA updates, the laser radar version of the new Geely Galaxy E8 may upgrade to the H3 level, gaining some city NOA capabilities. Additionally, the new Geely Galaxy E8 offers APA automatic parking. It can handle over 300 scenarios, such as dead-end roads and ultra-narrow parking spaces, in just 30 seconds. RPA remote parking allows users to control it via their smartphones. HPA memory parking can learn fixed routes, eliminating parking anxiety. What other upgrades does the new Geely Galaxy E8 have?
The new Geely Galaxy E8 all-wheel drive model features an upgraded ultra-fast charging battery. It uses an 800V high-voltage platform and CATL’s ultra-fast charging battery. This combination allows for a remarkable experience of “charging for 5 minutes, driving for 300 kilometers.” The vehicle includes 5.5C rapid flash charging technology, reaching a peak power of 450kW. It charges from 10% to 80% in just 10.5 minutes, equating to “1 second of charging for 1 kilometer.” In practice, the charging power remains stable at around 310kW. The battery charges from 10% to 80% in just 11 minutes and 52 seconds, which is impressive.
The new generation X-pin flat wire winding technology powers the oil-cooled motor. It boosts power density to 3.1 kW/kg. The zero to hundred acceleration reaches 3.49 seconds. The 400V two-wheel drive version increases CLTC range to 700 km. It lowers average energy consumption to 12.4 kW/h.
Upgrade the 23 speakers in Flyme Sound. It features 7 channels, 4 overhead channels, 2 headrest speakers, and 1 subwoofer. The system delivers a maximum power of 2000W.
The interior features more soft materials. It feels great. The entire lineup upgrades to standard cotton candy SPA luxury seats. These seats use premium quilting and slow-rebound memory foam. They feel soft and offer excellent support. The front seats include heating, ventilation, and an 8-point airbag massage function. The rear seat cushion measures 529mm in length. It also includes the only VIP electric executive seat in its class. This seat supports a 131° backrest adjustment and a 100mm forward cushion movement. The exterior shows no significant changes.
The new Geely Galaxy E8 follows the “Ripple Aesthetics” design language. It combines traditional Chinese culture with modern technology. The front features a “Tiger Shine” shape that conveys strength. The streamlined body and “Crouching Tiger” waistline design achieve a low drag coefficient of 0.199. This design balances elegance and aerodynamic efficiency.
The new “Misty Blue” body color draws inspiration from the clear sky over West Lake. The multi-layer pearlescent paint creates a delicate light and shadow effect. The 19-inch storm sport wheels and red Continental sport calipers enhance the sporty character. It drives powerfully.
This test drive features the all-new Geely Galaxy E8 rear-wheel drive long-range model. It uses a 400V architecture and delivers a total power of 250 kW. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.49 seconds. The strongest impression is its powerful performance. You don’t need to press the accelerator deeply to feel a strong push. It handles high-speed overtaking with ease. Additionally, the all-wheel drive version upgrades to a new motor. This boosts its total power to 475 kW, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.49 seconds.
The second highlight is its unique suspension tuning. The front section is soft. It absorbs bumps quickly, providing good comfort. The rear section is firm. It minimizes body roll during fast lane changes. The handling is impressive, boosting your confidence.
This test drive took place mostly on highways. We used the high-speed NOA driving assist throughout. The car carried four people. We set the air conditioning to 23-25℃. We drove 159.8 km. The display showed an average energy consumption of 14.3 kWh per 100 km. This performance is impressive for a pure electric mid-large sedan.
