The test drive started in downtown Hangzhou and ended at the foot of Mogan Mountain. We used “smart driving mode” at the beginning. The electric range was 102 km, and the fuel range was 684 km. The route consisted of 30% city driving and 70% highway driving. After 73.3 km, the electric range dropped to 26 km, while the fuel range decreased to 670 km. We mainly used electricity throughout the journey. The energy consumption was 13.0 kWh per 100 km. This efficiency is impressive for a B+ sedan. The displayed data showed accurate electric range figures.
The return trip from the foot of Mogan Mountain to Xiaoshan Airport used “extended driving mode,” with 30% in the city and 70% on the highway. After driving 87.3 km, the pure electric range remained unchanged at 19 km. The fuel range dropped by 99 km to 571 km. Even in extended mode, the vehicle used pure electric power at the start, consuming a significant amount of fuel-generated electricity. Surprisingly, the actual fuel consumption measured at 3.7 L per 100 km closely matched the official claim of 3.67 L. Geely’s Galaxy Star 8 delivers on energy efficiency, which is commendable.
