The Jietu Shanhai T2 is a new energy boxy model in the Jietu Shanhai series. Its striking design and Kunpeng hybrid C-DM technology attract many consumers. To reach a broader market, Jietu has introduced a long-wheelbase version of the T2. The new model is now available for pre-sale, with prices ranging from 199,900 to 243,900 yuan (33450$). It will officially launch on April 18. Before the launch, let’s take an early look at its highlights.
The Jietu Shanhai T2 extended version maintains the design style of the current model. Its boxy shape aligns with the “Zongheng Zhi Dao” design philosophy, providing strong recognition.
The front features a blacked-out grille. It showcases a large, bright “JETOUR” brand logo. The lower half of the front looks rugged. The black bumper is thick and protrudes. Complex lines give it a mechanical style. Bright double tow hooks enhance its off-road character.
The headlight design is rugged. The main light features four short LED daytime running lights. The main light hides beside the grille. It optimizes for light off-road use. The front light shines 38.1 meters wide and reaches 200 meters. The lower part includes two cube-shaped LED daytime running light arrays. They exude a strong sense of technology.
At the filming location, we saw the extended version of the Jietu Traveler. The new model shares the overall shape of the extended Shanhai T2. It differs only in design details and powertrain options. The new model will launch alongside the extended Shanhai T2 on April 18.
The car measures 5034mm in length, 2006mm in width, and 1875mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2800mm, which is 249mm longer than the current model. The extension mainly occurs behind the C-pillar, enhancing the car’s overall presence. The new model features hidden designs for the A, B, C, and D pillars. The front and rear fenders have a bold, muscular design. Together with the longer body, they make the car appear more robust.
The Jietu Shanhai T2 Long Version features urban-style matte Y-shaped wheels. It includes bright wheel covers. The overall style appears more rugged.
The rear design changes little. The straight lines, side-opening doors, and external spare tire resemble classic boxy models. They exude a rugged charm. The vertical tail lights, framed in black, enhance the off-road vibe.
The new car offers optional features. Customers can choose a winch, tow hook, side boxes, roof tent, bike ladder, roof rack, and even a spotlight. The larger size enhances its expansion capability.
The interior of the Jietu Shanhai T2 Long Version maintains the design style of the current model. The wide central console features a futuristic, mechanical look. Vertical air conditioning vents sit on both sides. A sturdy armrest adds a rugged touch. The 10.25-inch instrument panel and 15.6-inch floating central screen combine with a three-spoke, two-tone steering wheel and a crystal-equipped electronic gear lever. This setup creates an engaging atmosphere.
The design retains many nods to classic off-road vehicles. A map of the G318 Sichuan-Tibet route sits directly in front of the passenger. It also serves as an ambient light, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the interior.
The car system features a 15.6-inch multimedia screen. It uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. It includes an AI smart assistant and FOTA smart upgrades. The UI design is clear and user-friendly. Basic functions cover almost all imaginable in-car features.
The new car features an intelligent driving assistance system. It includes a forward collision warning system, intelligent traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, smart blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, traffic jam assistance, intelligent lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and fully automatic parking. It also has DMS fatigue monitoring, vital sign monitoring, and a panoramic camera.
The Jietu Shanhai T2 extended version features a third row of seats. It has a 2+3+2 seating layout with seven seats. The first two rows match the current model. I, at 1.9 meters tall, find ample space in both headroom and legroom in both rows.
The third-row space performs adequately. At 1.9 meters tall, I find it still suitable for emergencies. The boxy design offers good headroom. Overall, it serves to provide more driving scenarios.
The right seat in the second row folds forward. This creates a larger opening for getting in and out. Compared to the standard seven-seat model, it makes entry and exit much easier.
In seven-seat mode, the trunk space is adequate. It can hold two carry-on suitcases. Folding down the third-row seats creates more storage space. Folding down both rows expands the trunk’s maximum capacity to 1653L. This significantly enhances practicality for long trips.
In terms of power, the Jietu Shanhai T2 extended version features the CDM-O plug-in hybrid system across all models. The power system consists of a 1.5TD engine, a 3DHT transmission, and a P4 motor. The engine is the fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5TGDI, designed for efficient hybrid use. It delivers a maximum power of 115 kW and a peak torque of 220 N·m. The system achieves a maximum power of 455 kW. For a boxy SUV, this power performance is quite sufficient.
The new car features Jietu’s unique XWD automatic intelligent four-wheel drive technology. It supports seven driving modes: E Economy, N Standard, S Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. The car includes an X Mode. This mode allows the system to identify road conditions and automatically allocate torque and switch modes. It responds quickly, taking just 0.1 seconds from road condition recognition to torque output. This speed improves efficiency by 20% compared to mainstream on-demand four-wheel drives. Additionally, the car supports tank turn functionality, making off-roading easier.
The new car features a 43.24kWh battery. It offers a pure electric range of 206 km according to CLTC. The total range exceeds 1300 km. All models support 2.2kW and 6.6kW discharge functions. In summary, the new car maintains the design and configuration advantages of the Jietu Shanhai T2. The extended third-row seats and larger storage capacity enhance its practicality for long trips. Its improved overall performance boosts its product appeal.
