On April 22, Audi unveiled the A6L e-tron, its first flagship sedan built on the PPE luxury electric platform. The car will make a significant appearance at the Shanghai Auto Show. The arrival of the A6L e-tron and the Q6L e-tron family marks a new phase for luxury electric vehicles in China. This shift transitions from “1.0 oil-to-electric exploration” to “2.0 innovative breakthroughs.” Now, the industry enters “3.0 high-quality safety and technology development.” The three new models leverage the PPE platform’s technical advantages and the E³ 1.2 electronic architecture. They will achieve significant advancements in smart interaction, L2-level driving assistance, and battery performance.
Audi A6L e-tron makes its global debut. The event showcases the Audi A6L e-tron, presenting a new vision of elegant sports aesthetics. It redefines the aesthetic standards for luxury electric flagship sedans and captures everyone’s attention. As the first electric sedan on the PPE luxury electric platform, the Audi A6L e-tron features dimensions tailored for the Chinese market. It measures 5087mm in length, 1948mm in width, 1521mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3078mm. These dimensions meet the Chinese demand for luxurious, executive-level comfort.
The Audi A6L e-tron achieves a remarkable balance of aerodynamics and aesthetics with a drag coefficient of 0.22. The front features slim daytime running lights and a wide grille, creating a flat, broad visual effect. The pronounced “quattro blisters” showcase muscular lines, highlighting the quattro drive attributes. Smooth lines merge aerodynamic efficiency with visual tension, giving the body a sense of power. The A6L e-tron’s headlights and taillights use a three-dimensional design and feature dynamic digital light signatures, blending the physical and digital worlds into an intelligent aesthetic.
The Audi A6L e-tron features a battery area that serves as a visual anchor. Designers use embedded black high-gloss trim on the side. A horizontal black module runs along the car’s side. It connects seamlessly to the rear reflective strip. This design enhances the low center of gravity and creates a sleek body proportion. The Audi A6L e-tron also includes second-generation streaming side mirrors, semi-hidden door handles, and a large 1.88 m² panoramic glass roof. These elements balance functionality and aesthetics, elevating the luxury experience.
To highlight the exclusivity and individuality of Chinese consumers, the Audi A6L e-tron features a unique front face with a luminous four-ring logo. This design blends classic Audi elements with Eastern aesthetics. It offers eight exterior colors and five wheel styles, meeting diverse customization needs. Equipped with Huawei’s QianKun technology, the smart experience evolves. The PPE platform, co-developed by Audi and Porsche, uses a new E³ 1.2 electronic architecture. It employs five high-performance computing units for intelligent vehicle control, merging smart technology with luxurious driving. The Audi A6L e-tron and Q6L e-tron families feature a cocoon-like cabin design. They include a 14.5-inch Audi MMI panoramic display, an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, and a 10.9-inch MMI display for front passengers. Together, they create a clear “digital stage” for an innovative digital experience. Notably, the Q6L e-tron family boasts the only 88-inch second-generation augmented reality head-up display in its class. Drivers can access key information without looking down, reducing the risk of distraction. The passenger entertainment screen features a louver design for privacy, allowing immersive entertainment without distracting the driver. Additionally, the A6L e-tron and Q6L e-tron families come with a new UI/UX interaction system. This system uses an innovative AI home page design and dynamic visual effects for multi-screen intelligent interaction.
The Audi A6L e-tron and Audi Q6L e-tron families fully meet customer demands for smart interaction. They cover a wide range of entertainment ecosystems. The vehicles integrate the hottest navigation, music, and video apps in the domestic market. This creates a rich in-car entertainment system that easily satisfies daily needs for travel and audiovisual enjoyment. The cars also feature in-car KTV, in-car office, and gaming centers. These functions allow passengers to switch freely between efficient work, singing, and leisure, enhancing the smart travel experience. For driving assistance, the Audi A6L e-tron and Audi Q6L e-tron families use advanced Huawei Qian Kun technology. They employ dual laser radar and visual fusion perception to achieve L2-level driving assistance without maps. The vehicles provide navigation assistance on highways and urban roads. They also support automatic parking in complex scenarios, including single-layer, multi-layer parking lots, and outdoor parking spaces.
The Audi A6L e-tron and Audi Q6L e-tron excel in electric performance. They feature CATL’s high-voltage ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 107 kWh. The peak charging power reaches 270 kW. Under ideal conditions, a 10-minute charge adds about 294 kilometers of range. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 20 minutes. This greatly reduces range anxiety and makes every trip more relaxed. As strategic models for Audi’s electrification, the A6L e-tron and Q6L e-tron family offer a completely revamped smart cockpit interaction and Level 2 driving assistance. They redefine the luxury electric travel experience with smart technology. In the future, FAW Audi will deepen the technical advantages of the PPE luxury electric platform. This will enhance Audi’s electric models with superior perception and efficient execution. Continuous updates in digital services and smart experiences will create a better and smarter electric travel experience for customers.
